The name they gave her there was Josie but I don't like that too much and since cats doen't really respond to a name anyhow, I'm thinking of changing her name. Last night I came up with Kerry......I'd just finished reading a wonderful novel about Ireland (At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill) and have been thinking Irish thoughts. And three years ago right about now Durly and I were in County Kerry, so Kerry Cat sounds about right. I'll try that out for awhile and see how it goes.
Whatever her name, she seems like a very sweet cat. The info from the Humane Society said when bringing a new cat home to confine it to a small area for the first few days. Well, I closed off a few rooms for the first few hours yesterday, but she was enjoying exploring all through the house and didn't seem to be having any new house anxiety, so now it's all hers. This afternoon she discovered the same shelf in the bedroom where Bigley liked to nap, and she's been crashed there for the last few hours.
I *never ever* was a cat person before Bigley adopted me and he's the only cat that I'd ever spent much time with, so it's interesting now to see the differences. This new one (Kerry.....?) is much more solid, and she's also quite playful, and instead of meowing, she sort of squeaks. Apparently she's only been an indoor cat before, so the mailman can probably breathe easier. I'm looking forward to her companionship. But, me with another cat.....who woulda thunk it??
