A. Action[It's getting later by now, the sun almost gone. Shadows are moving in and crowding the sidewalks -- there's one, however, that progresses steadily and unmistakably from streetlight to streetlight to streetlight

[My. It's nice to see the monotony, the boredom that he had been afraid would permeate and pierce everyone in this town, was already being dispelled. Lucifer just watches and follows in the shadows for a bit before deciding to make his presence known.]

That is quite an impressive pet.

How did you make it?

Hmm? [It takes him a moment to locate Lucifer, since he hadn't quite been expecting someone of that height -- but once he does, Anon shakes his head at himself with a laugh. Human senses are so dull! He should have sensed him quite a while ago, no matter how small he is.

He's still got so much work to do.]

It's pretty great, isn't it? Unfortunately, I can't claim credit! I only found it on my way home.

[To him, of course, the corpse is no corpse at all, but looks like a veritable hellhound -- some dog-formed creature of shadow with eerily-lit eyes, residual hallucination from earlier. And it is loping along on a perfectly respectable leash.]

[Lucifer looks down at the corpse for a moment before looking back up at Anon. It's occurring to him that you and he quite possibly aren't seeing the same thing. Though he doesn't want to phrase that just yet.]

Tell me. Are there many here? Where did you find it?

I'm glad you like it. And there were a lot of shadows and monsters and shadow monsters around a while ago, but I think they went home into the nighttime.

[He's paused, and leans down solicitously to ruffle his prize.] Good boy. Why don't you say hi to him? Go on.

[A gentle jerk makes the body sway a little.] There we go.

[Monsters and shadows and a combination of the two. Those are terms Lucifer is relatively familiar with. He watches as Anon tugs, and bends down to pet the "dog".]

Yes, indeed, he is a good boy.

If you'll forgive me, I'm not sure I know exactly what he is. Could you tell me?

His name is Robert, for now -- I might decide on something even better later. And I'm Anon.

[He tugs the corpse back towards himself a bit -- wouldn't want Robert jumping on the little guy, after all. Hellhounds-that-aren't probably don't have the best manners. This one's even surprisingly well-behaved, compared to the others.]

You know, I'm not sure what he is, either! I think he's a shadow dog, but it's hard to tell because his aura is all messy.

[This kid doesn't seem surprised by the idea of shadows at all -- Anon likes him already.] So, you've seen the shadows before, too? They're smaller here, but just as noisy.

[He scratches his head and looks back the way he came with a frown.] That's kind of hard to say, though. The shadows were there blocking my view, and it was getting dark... I think it was a big road.
