[Dolorosa is just going for a walk when she sees a younger human trying to eat some animals. She calls out to him] I was not under the impression that humans hunted the wild for nourishment.

[He blinks around the unfortunate pigeon that's trying to scratch his eyes out. Without his powers, this nomming thing is somehow way harder.]

Eh? But I'm not a human! And I'm not hunting, not really.

[Though, upon reflection, you could call it hunting. But he's not just going to blurt out his secrets like that!]

[she straightens out her skirt] Forgive me, I cannot really tell one species from another as we all look like this. Except for those who have regained their original bodies. What a curious place.

If you're not hunting then what are you doing to the wingbeast?

[He gives the pigeon a dubious look and shakes it a little, like that'll make it easier to swallow. The pigeon stubbornly remains scratchy and too big.]

... That's okay. Looks like I'm not the only one who had some weird changes happen in this place, that's a relief!

But did you say there's a way to change back?

[Is he avoiding the question or did he just get too distracted by that revelation? The world may never know.]

[well she won't push it one way or another]

Yes, apparently the town occasionally does something horrible and as a reward for going through that trying experience, you get something back. I was told I could get my original body back, I assume you can as well.

[Tact! Gasp, a rare sighting indeed.]

Something horrible? So you have to go through a trial to earn it back...

[Abruptly, he releases the pigeon and claps his hands together.]

I see! This is definitely a challenge to train myself as though I had to be a human! I hadn't thought of it, but I'll accept it.

You are going to attempt to learn how to be human? An interesting choice. One that I may choose as well. While we are here we might as well immerse ourselves in the culture, perhaps we could teach them a bit about ours as well.

No one knows how to reverse the process on their own, right? And it's always good training to live under harder conditions for a while -- it can only make me stronger.

[Ah, right.]

So, if you're not human, then what are you? Did you come from another planet, too?

I am a troll from the planet Alternia. Where are you from?

A troll, huh? In the human world where I'm from, a troll is a funny little guy who lives under bridges! But I bet your true form isn't anything like that, right?

Hmm, while I'm sure some trolls have better senses of humor than others I wouldn't call the race funny overall, and we do not live under bridges, we live in hives that we constructed at a young age.

Not that kind of funny, I mean funny-looking. They have hair that looks like grass and big noses and eyes, and they're really short. At least that's the story.

[A thoughtful pause.]

Hives like bees? Do you make honey or something?

[What a weird race. Not that he has any room to talk.]

Well my hair does not look like grass, nor do I believe my nose or eyes to be particularly large, although that trait may vary from troll to troll, along with height. So, I will have to say that no, I am not the type of troll that you are familiar with.

[she shakes her head]

No a hive like the place you woke up in.

Nope, you don't look like an Earth troll at all. [He beams as though this is awesome, which it completely is.] Even though I've never seen one except in stories, you're definitely an alien troll!

[... Blink.]

Your hives look like human houses?

Yes, I am definitely an alien troll. What are you?

[she nods once but then shakes her head]

They are similar but architecturally different.
