They're my least favorite part of this plot and I can't wait for them to go away.

I just find them really distracting. I'd rather continue to establish CR with actual PC's than deal with them. It's not that I dislike the plot, I just don't want to waste the time letting my characters get to know them when as a player I know they won't be around for long. I don't tag into their posts, and I'd rather they didn't tag into mine.

With that logic, then there's always a risk when establishing CR with any character, PC or not.

At least with these NPCs you KNOW they're going to disappear maybe. With PCs there's always a chance of the player dropping them. Just have fun with them, or hey, try to avoid establishing CR? I know you're avoiding their posts and all. Your character can talk to them if they do happen to tag in and it would be just a casual CR instead of some investment like PC CR, or contact the mods saying you'd rather not interact with them.

The whole "maybe" has me uneasy. I'm okay with them being in the game for the summer plot, but I really hope they won't stick around. For me part of the appeal of C&C is that there are no original characters. I'll be really disappointed if the NPC OC's last longer than the plot itself.

The game has had OC and AU NPCs since it started, though.

If by OCs you mean faux-Iron Man, Grinbitch, and the Shadowplay Girls, yeah... I guess? But they're all very limited and used only for mod purposes. These OCs are much more like PCs in the way that they've been interacting with other characters. I don't have a problem with them appearing, I think it's a fairly interesting plot point, but I get what the above anon is saying about part of the selling point of the game being no OCs/non-canon AUs.
