Hard Boiled
John Woo made his reputation with two-fisted Hong Kong action movies, though for Hard Boiled, it could be described as “sliding down a banister with a gun in each hand as the bad guys blaze away, a toothpick in your teeth held just so.” Hard Boiled is a great gateway drug into the world of Hong Kong cinema, though with tons of gunfights and plenty of violence, it’s also a gateway drug to spending an evening shouting encouragement at the television.
-This is one of my personal favourites. Even just seeing the cover of the movie takes me back. The "lead hose" effect, and the Chinese action movie law... everyone bleeds but nobody dies unless they're shot in the head.
On another note... I'm totally leaving this country in 3 more days.
