I find it interesting that Spock states his belief that the united version of the captain does not realize to what depth the "Jim" version manipulated Spock, and that the portion of him responsible is now submerged in his subconscious, but he never says that he doesn't think this complete version of Jim to be capable of similar behavior... Part of him is clearly still nervous about that side of him, and the potential effect on his own repressed emotions. Poor Spock. And poor Jim, because it's pretty clear from both Uhura's and Spock's assessment that he's beating himself up over what happened. I love how complicated you make the situation for both of them, even by just recounting Spock's point of view.

I'm really sad because this opportunity gives a lot more insight to Spock about how valuable was Jim i tos. and in here only that he can be manipulated and hurt by Jim. But no that Jim can care for him and even love him like in Tos so i'm a little disappointed because we lost several opportunities of them to come up together!

*delurks* "I happened to on Deck E" might just, y'know, POSSIBLY need a "be" in there. I do, however, love love love this chapter. Yes, without a doubt, Jim is the one who got him/them through both Evil Stepdaddy and Tarsus, and WE know that, and Jim and Captain know that, but no one else. That kind of knowledge? HARD to write well, but you did it! *relurks*

This makes me teary eyed because even though Spock doesn't really "evince", per se, his emotions are still so clear in his precise language and his reaction to events. Oh, how he must ache for companionship :(
