I started reading this anyway - I´m the person who has recently asked if it would get finished anytime soon because I was wary to start reading WiP - and I LOVE it so far! :)
I love Spock´s voice, I love Uhura and I LOVE the way you deal with TOS episodes :)
Spock really has yet to appreciate how complicated Jim is.
This broke my heart a little:
“Being split into two halves is no theory for me, captain. I have a Vulcan half, as well as an alien half, submerged, constantly at war with each other. I survive it because my intelligence prevails over both, makes them live together. So it must also be for you. You derive you ability to lead from your animalistic side. It is your negative side that makes you strong, your ‘evil’ side, if you will, properly controlled and disciplined, is vital to your strength.”
The captain paled.
“Jim’s strength isn’t just from his animal side, Spock. He’s got his own human strengths right here-intelligence, empathy, dignity.”
I said nothing.
Between the effect of Spock's words on Jim, and Spock's assessment of his human half as the "alien" half... I don't know if I want to shake Spock or hug him.
Kirk using telepathy to assault Spock is probably one of the most disturbing things I've read, outside of the Mirror!verse, in a long time. It's frightening to think he could be that powerful against Spock. A very good chapter and awesome adaptation of The Enemy Within
