Before the rain, clear contours of sky and earth, light and dark.
After the rain, confusion, drizzled mixing of earth and cloud, soft and hard, clear and fuzzy, like just after making love.
A thunderstorm was expected here, but what is falling now is gentle rain.
Sometimes males get a worse deal than females. In my time and place, girls were allowed to play cowboys 'n indians all day long (and not as squaws either!) provided of course that they were willing in due course of time to turn into traditional wives and mothers.

This was kind of an impulsive thing. Not sure what prompted me to write it, except that I was looking out the house window and it looked exactly like Magritte's painting. I love summer thunderstorms.

I think in terms of gender, the hands get dealt kind of evenly, worse in some place, better in others. I've noticed that gay men seem much more visible than lesbian women. It's strange. I don't know what to think of it.

Will reply to your e.

I have a long-time suspicion that the key to understanding many such social puzzles is to be found in susceptibility to impregnation.
Lesbian women are still suitable as breeding stock: who cares a damn what they do when by themselves in gynaekaia or harems or castles, while their men are away on some adventure.
Maybe for the same reason, boys are allowed much more freedom of movement than girls: whatever happens, they can't get knocked up and bring such an indelible blot on the escutcheon as a bastard baby.
This may sound a bit barbaric, but some social habits of thought are hard to die --I mean, *millennia* hard to die.
What do you think?

Interesting intersection of form and medium.

(I found the baby dolls in the video creepy, though.)

I miss rain.

The first time I saw the video, I thought the dolls were creepy too. But they grew on me.

I suppose it doesn't surprise you that I associate more strongly with the boy who rescues the dolls than the blond who owns them. Not sure what to make of that.

I miss rain.

This only makes me more determined not to move to California. :D

:-P

It does rain here, just all at once, for many months in succession during winter.

On a more serious note: No, it doesn't surprise me. <3

It's been years since I first saw it. When I did (I hadn't known yet, obviously) it gripped me in a strange way that wouldn't let me go.
