I think part of the issue with the "good" elljay Beatles communities going downhill is lack of moderation to them. Beatlesecrets, as someone alluded to earlier, should be much more closely moderated and the secrets sorted through before posting. If it's not a SECRET, don't post it. Complaints and rants don't deserve to be considered secrets and only start fights.

JHP, I have been a lurker and occasional poster there for nearly a year and I just now know who the mod is because they are bitching about other people bitching about JHP. When it got all out of hand with anime drawings and AU fic, nothing happened until it blew up out of control. Take some control of these things, keep an eye on them, and things would run smoother. Some would see it as quelling freedom of expression, but if you're going to abuse that freedom by flaming people and complaining and ranting, you don't deserve that freedom. Here at anon_beatles, its accepted because its anonymous and pursued... at JHP and places, it doesn't belong, not imho.

that's just a thought. Mods, start moderating!

Agreed. Same thing has happened just RECENTLY. What the Dickens?? jhp's mod really needed to steop in here, and not just at the end when the whole thing went nuts. It shouldn't be up to people like nemperor to be the voice of reason in all this madness. To see how good moderating is done, jhp's mod(s) should take a look at how things are run at beatlesslash.

And as far some of the fic that's been posted recently at jhp the rape stuff, the mod should be on that its' that kind of thing that will get the com shut down then everything there will be deleted. Someone really needs to put up a parody fic at jhp to illustrate how madly exploitative the whole thing is. Something along these lines

Paul was walking down the street. He bumped into a man. He apologised, but then the man forced him to get into the back of a van and started raping him, and then some other men arrived, and they raped him, and the raping went on and on and then a bus pulled up and more men got off the bus, and they joined in the raping and paul's spirit was utterly broken and when it was finally over he went back home and cried his eyes out and hid in his room. Then the next day he had lots of sex with john but he didn't really want to, but it was haaawwtt because he'd been raped. But no one knew.
