Right.

It's been ages since I last posted anything (disregarding the one i did two minutes ago.)

I had a fantastic day yesterday. I went to my first ballet ever. I chose the English National Ballet version of the Nutcracker (mainly because there was a free ticket offer in the newspaper). But i was really happy to go, and have instantly fallen in love with it. Can't wait to see another one! I think it was a good first ballet to go to, since it is a family one after all. If it can keep the kids entertained, then it'll definitely keep me happy!

I think Chris liked it too, but he had the cheek to say that so far, he thinks opera is better. I asked why, and he replied it was because it expresses so much more emotion. Well that's hardly fair! We went to see *THE NUTCRACKER* for goodness sake!!! It's hardly the most moving ballet we could have gone to....

Ballet was followed by dinner at HK diner, which was as tasty as ever. Chris has had so little experience of Chinese food. I can't believe, when i first met him, he said he'd never had a good chinese meal! :-o

To finish off our cultural day, we met up with Rupert & Ali (his posh friends/ex-ex-gf) to get tickets for "Betrayal", a Harold Pinter play, in which Hugo Speer was starring. Ali paid an incredible £37.50 for her ticket, whilst us students got away with a measly £15! Went to the pub, where Anne and Kevin met up with us. Was slightly disappointed that Kevin was being ultra scruffy that day (wearing a massive non-removable beanie to cover up his "bad hair day", and a big baggy everything else), having earlier heard Rupert's comment of "are they socially acceptable??" - though I'm sure that was just tongue-in-cheek anyway, and doesn't just refer to the clothes they wear!! To make matters worse though, in the tiny theatre, they went off to buy jelly babies and ate them throughout the show! Tsk Tsk. Some people eh? ;) Can't take them anywhere!!!

But I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

And To finish off our cultural day... (for real this time), we wound up in Maccy D's to get Rupert some dinner, and then downed a drink in the pub before running to catch my train. It's okay. It was only a J20. :D

Other things I have been up to:

12th - 16th Dec : Stockholm with Chris. Me groggy and grumpy because I caught the flu. Not good. But holidaying with Chris good. And chris's house good. :)

25th Dec: Christmas. Mmm. The turkey wasn't done. But I think as we've grown up, i'm really liking Kevin and Serena, and catching up with them was fun. Serena bumped into some Cam mates of mine. Nat Au, Colin and Ken. And they didn't know who she meant when she asked if they knew me! Oh i'm offended! Hmph.

31st Dec: New Years Eve. Chris's neighbour, Richard, invited us to a dinner party pretty last minute. As we hadn't really made any other plans, we decided to go for it. Unfortunately, everyone else other than Rupert, cancelled at even more last minute, so it ended up just being the 4 of us, and in black tie! It was an excellent new years nevertheless. Managed to create an atmosphere, (in a rather intimate setting!), eating far too much pizza and drinking far too much wine/sparkly wine/limoncello/champagne, playing on the trampette and Chris's thumb caught fire! And I did my classic party trick of passing out on the sofa. ^_^

Oh, and this Christmas holiday, Anne thought I had died or something. Lol. Funny, But kind of not.... ¬_¬

People I have met:

Chris's mum & dad, Julie & Paul: I think I like his dad better for some odd reason. He's kind of jolly, and has a kind face. Well I suppose in comparison, his mum looks kind of evil. :-\ They're pleasant in any case. But polite and feel formal. I'm glad they have a sense of humour though! (Remember the masquerade masks...)

Rupert: has instantly become my favourite out of Chris's friends. I have no idea why. Despite being the poshest out of all of them so far and his slight out-of-touchness with the rest of society(!), I think he's actually really _nice_. He doesn't want to put other's out of their way, he says funny things, isn't particularly evil to anyone, and kind of looks like beavis. Or butthead. Which is the ginger one??

Richard: is amusing. Has an excellent sense of humour, but i can see his constant teasing could get annoying. In any case, I did like him, and i'm insanely jealous of his obvious artistic talent!

Ali: looks like evil poshness. But I think she's also nice, as long as i try not to be too judgemental and have a go at talking to her properly! Having not had that much contact with her, I can't really tell yet. Looks wise, I really think she would have suited Chris! Crumbs.

Oxford friends: I have yet to really hit it off with Chris's housemates. Though I have come to really like Mark quite a bit, Gareth and Tom are as ever inoffensive (Tom moreso than Gareth). Avin I find although sometimes brash, is actually considerate and (i presume) kind hearted, so I think I'll rate him on par with Mark! Oli has yet to make a positive impression on me. I find he's often offensive and unkind in his words, even when referring to his 'girlfriend'. I realise this is part of his character, and that it's generally taken in jest, but you still have to think these things in order to take the piss! I have witnessed civility/an effort to be nice to me though, so that'll have to go on the positive list... Chris has said that he seems 'really upset' that we haven't gotten on/that I don't seem to like him, but I think Chris has a tendency to exaggerate these things. In any case, I think Oli is someone I will like for the most part, but as ever, I'll carrt on disapproving of his behaviour!!

Job stuff:

I'm giving up on consultancy. I have had 8 rejections of 10 and one single offer for an interview (they are interviewing 60 Cambridge students after all! I'd be pretty sucky to not have gotten one!) I've decided I lack the experience to even get through to the interview stage! I am instead concentrating my efforts on FastStream, and PwC - with whom I have just landed myself an interview. Phew.

Next week, I'm going on a govt training course. Just so happens, Anne applied for it too! It should be fun. I hope. And give me some confidence for next week's MC interview. Scary.

If I don't get a job, I want to work for a while and then go off and do my own thing in Australia/New Zealand for a while. I told my mum this today. And again, she said: "Its dangerous! You'll die! You're not going ANYWHERE."

Yes this is correct. I feel like I'm not getting anywhere fast at the moment. Given that if my hopes of travelling and finally getting to 'spread my wings' at last are destroyed (by my parents), I just want to have a job secured now. I hate having to continue to apply for things! *sigh*.
