We went back to the beach from last year. We still had a great time and it was still beautiful. I found no shortage of interesting sights, in fact it even seemed better. I'll tell you what was different:
My pictures. Maybe it's just me, but the pictures I took this time around kind of have a different feel to them. Well the weather was certainly better and I guess that's part of it. I don't know. Maybe I'm just pretending there's some greater artistic purpose behind blah blah blah blah... grey area stuff. But really though, last year was like more blues and greens; this year's more like pinks and oranges. Oh, well that really does sound like the weather's doing doesn't it? Anyway...
The Tourists. I saw quite a few caucasian gentlemen with their filipina companions (I say companions because some of them were wives, some weren't). A lot of east asians too. You know, I do somewhat admire them when it comes to taking pictures. I saw a couple of them with their own little tripods, self-caming if you will; doing these cutesy, touristy and (as racist as it might sound) asiany poses. They really have their own sensibility about it--it's so amusing! The pictures must be fun to talk about when they get back home. I guess that's why they take them that way. And I guess that makes me a little selfish, in that sense. ^^;
The reef. We went scuba diving again but this time to a different area, a little farther out I think. Arko, they called it. Truly amazing! We got to go deeper than before. We even saw other divers, which was cool. It told me that the spot was really something worth checking out. But then I felt like a real amateur, what with my meager, underwater, disposable point & shoot; and them with their fancy, marine, digital cams. It was definitely worth it though. Discov/NatGeo-worthy. I just hope the pictures captured at least half of that worthiness.
All I can seem to talk about is pictures, isn't it? I said it a lot.
Oh I saw a great example of stark contrast. What do you think is the most useless garment for the beach? I thought it was tights. Alas, I stood corrected by some older chinese ladies. Wore them with their bathing suits, they did, with shawls and hats. And on the other side of the spectrum: the Italian lady. To put it simply, she and her (I pressume) husband, wore the same article of clothing while sunbathing on the shore. That's right... sight for sore eyes indeed. I'm afraid I simply can't recall her face, at least not as well as I can recall her... Like I said, no shortage of interesting sights.
It really was a good trip. Great place.
One thing though, it is still hotter here...
