Oy.... what a day

Hello, my dear chickadees. *g*

Whirlwhind day.... my visit with Gramma this morning didn't go too good. She was having an off day mentally and it just got really tiring and taxing after a while. And of course, she got upset that she thought we were lying to her and making her look bad. [sigh] But the clincher was that yesterday, she called me an "old maid" because I'm 27, unmarried, and living alone. Yeah. I'm really an Old Maid. Someone hand me my walker and my afghan so I can look like the granny on the gamecards *g*. I knew that was coming eventually during the visit. That's just how Gramma is.

We had lunch today with my aunt and uncle at the famed Schmidt's Sausage Haus down in German Village. YUMMY. It's the best place, and it's got authentic German fare--been serving it since 1886!

Later on in the afternoon, I got to meet up with sexaliciousdiva!! She and I went to have dinner and dessert in Easton. WOW... talk about a shopping mall!! Mind boggling! And check out the Hilton there!! It was a blast to meet you in person finally, hun!!! :D :D :D I'll post the pic when I get home.

After I got back home, I had been talking to my aunt and my parents about my lineage and geneology. I've been trying to compile it over the past 3 years or so, and one of my cousins has done EXTENSIVE work on my mom's side of the family. Tonight, I was able to look at her records, and through her work and mine, I've been able to trace back to... get this... my great great great great great great great great great great (count 'em... that's 10) grandfather who was born in Holland in 1628. Call me a geek (Ok, Geek..) but that is so FASCINATING to me. I've been going through all the records here and am just astounded by the history involved in my family. Relatives on both sides of my family fought in the Revolutionary War, and my GG Grandfather fought in the Civil War when he was 12-15 years old. That just blows my mind.

Have a happy 4th, everybody!! And to my international friends... Happy Sunday! *g*

ohio, the fam
