"I...I don't know. It sounded like an emergency, or Jubilee is playing a horrible prank on me. Either way, I have to go. I hope...oh shit, they'd tell me if it was my parents, right?"
Victor sighed has he felt Walter's arms tighten. "Yeah, it does. Jubilee is part of them, except she's not a teacher yet. She was kinda my "Big Sisiter" for a while, and got me introduced to Xavier's. That's probably why they had her call. But...what are they hiding? I...I have no idea, and it's creeping me out."
"Why do you think they're hiding something? When did she call? What did she say? It can't be one of those 'someone's attacking the school' emergencies you've mentioned or they wouldn't want you to wait even a second, right?"
Victor pulled Walter to the bed with him and sat down. "Because they're being sneaky. If it was something extremely serious, I would've been gone by now. Headmistress Frost probably wouldn't have even bothered with a phone call. So it's not huge...but it's big enough to force me to come back."
He sighed and flopped back on teh bed. "Jubes basically said that the X-Jet was coming by tomorrow at 5, and that she'd be in big trouble if she told me why. So what the fuck is going on? I mean, my birthday isn't for another month. My parents are safe, no one else died...so what?"
"Right. So you're not in immediate danger." Walter got to the next, and very important to him, question. "Why don't you know if you'll be coming back. Would they make you stay? Would you stay if it was your choice?"
Victor shook his head. "Jubilee said I'm supposed to go for the weekend, but...at Xavier's, you never know what's gonna happen. reality could change, and I'd never remember that Fandom High existed. I hope that doesn't happen, but..."
He shook his head again, this time trying to hold back tears. "I'll do everything I can to come back, Walter. I came here because I couldn't handle it when Jean-Paul died. I stayed here because of you."
The idea that Victor could forget he even existed made Walter's stomach turn painfully.
"No. They remember you're here and you've been here more than a month. You won't forget."
But what if he did? He shifted on the bed and put his arms around his boyfriend, not wanting to let him go until after the X-Jet (whatever that was) had left.
"Then don't get killed while you're gone or I'll be very angry with you." Walter tried to make a joke of it, but he hated the idea of Victor going into something potentially dangerous while Walter was here on Fandom Island with a bunch of kids doing frivolous kid things.
He drew back from Victor and took his hand, looking at it carefully.
"I won't," Victor assured, wiping his eyes and smiling. "I'm sure if anything happened you or Alfred would hear about it and you'd come running with your butler-fu."
He saw where Walter was looking and tilted his head. "Is there something on my hand?"
He knocked before opening the door with his key and entering. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"Did I ever tell you about the X-Men?"

He growled and contemplated throwing something.
