It wasn't that I was against the opinion, it was that they printed a word that is offensive to a whole lotta people.
If a brother of yours (I'm not even sure you have a brother, this is just a hypothetical situation) did something dumb, like rob a bank, it would reflect poorly on your family. Likewise, this relects poorly on our state. I'm not judging it as a whole, but this isn't a proud moment. It's the same way I can be ashamed of Arkansas for the segregation of Central, or I can be ashamed of America for murdering lots of Native Americans, or pick whatever other example you want.
You need to slow down with that hostility, sister.

"niggernado" is a made up word, therefore it's only offensive to people who chose to let it offend them. you should be able to see the ignorance in the person who sent in the letter and be able to laugh at it. the Arkansas Dem-Gazette printed the letter to show ALL of the opinions of it's readers, if it didn't it wouldn't be a fair paper.
and stop acting all fucking high and mighty, Ben. seriously, you don't know shit.

What's your deal?
Maybe you can't see the offensive word (hint: look at the first six letters). I can. It would bother me if someone printed "Jesus sucks Satan's cock" in the newspaper, too. It's not a matter of acting high and mighty, as you so rudely put it, it's a matter of having common decency. The fact that you can't understand this doesn't speak well for you.
I laughed for a very long time at the letter. It's hillarious, both that someone would write that and that someone would print that.
The Dem-Gazette has never been a "fair" paper. I read the editorials and the letters even when I don't agree with them (which is the majority of the time). I'm an incredibly ardent supporter of free speech. This isn't about getting an opinion across. What this IS about is the fact that a word with such a loaded, offensive meaning was published in our newspaper. If you could back away from your stereotypical super-liberal fanatic zealism, you could see this.
And I would kindly ask you to pray tell how I "don't know shit", Tara.
Just because you don't agree with the opinions of others you shouldn't judge the whole fucking state, Ben.
