So after the year from hell aka 2007, I knew this year had to be better and I was right. It was an okay, nothing special kind of year although some good stuff happened throughout. I name my years and this one I've decided on The Year of Transition and Tech Troubles since every tech thing seemed to break or get lost this year and I was just in the midst of change and figuring out and moving in the direction I want to go.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Went to the Rose Parade, missed a plane connection, went to Montreal, saw Ryan, Colin and Greg do improv together, drank alcohol legally, got drunk, got a speeding ticket, went on a diet/exercise plan, went to a club, dance alone on the dance floor, went to the US Open, went to Bryant Park at Fashion Week and met Jay McCarroll, went to a political rally/saw Obama, organized a protest, swerved and drove off the road in snowy weather and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.
2. Did you keep your New Years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I massively failed in the vidding department so no I didn't keep it. And not much of a difference in reading, music listening or procrastinating. Going to tentatively keep those as a general rule but my major resolution is to immediately feedback all the vids I watch even if it's just a few words.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-aunt died and that was pretty sad. And not close to me but I was sad when Heath Ledger died.
5. What countries did you visit?
I visited Canada and went to Montreal for the first time.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A love life. Just being in California.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
I really don't remember dates well but the things I will remember most is on January 1st spending a beautiful day at the Rose Parade and hanging out with fans at the Santa Monica Pier on the 1st, seeing Ryan and Colin together in July, Vividcon in August, seeing Obama in October, celebrating late night November 4th at seeing the first African American president be elected and the protest on November 15th.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Doing well in my classes, losing some weight and organizing a Prop 8 protest.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not making more vids I suppose and just procrastination in general.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No nothing serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My 2 TB hard drive :D So amazing that I want another one.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone who voted for Obama or supported him.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Everyone who voted for Prop 8 or supported it.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Tech troubles mostly, travel and some TV DVDs.

(Last year totally sucked so there's not much of a comparison)

Vidding mostly.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinate as per usual.
20. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
With
lianri, watching Mad Men, drinking and enjoying myself.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008?

I was 21 and I had a party with friends, went out and drank some alcohol, played Apples and Apples and watched a little of Baby Mama.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Everyone I met at Vividcon and Nadia.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Every person can contribute something great to the world including myself.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
It could be much worse, yeah
But the call is close
Tomorrow's my reason for today to let go
If I can get through this
I can get through anything
While looking for another song, I found these lyrics serendipitously which sum it up pretty perfectly.
I'm hoping next year should be much better as I should be back in California and hopefully having a great time in college. I want to try to balance all the things I love in life and not neglect anything. I'm really looking forward to a year of Obama, spring break in Florida with my friends, Vividcon and just a new start for myself. Hope everyone has a great year and the TV gods are nice to us!
