I'm going to California!

So tomorrow morning, I am flying to California to live. I can't believe it's finally here and I get to go back home tomorrow :) I have a place and will be looking for a job while I'm there. I am really looking forward to it and to seeing all my favorite places and visiting new ones. Plus I'm leaving 40s weather for 70s. Mmmm sunshine and warmth. I've missed it so much.

In honor of this event, my list of my top ten memories of my last year in California:

1. Meeting The Office cast at the Paley festival: There really is nothing like meeting the cast when you're in the throes of obsession. I mean, I got to hear them talk about my favorite show AND personally meet Melora, Steve Carell, Rainn, Angela, Jenna and Greg Daniels. It was absolutely amazing and squeeful experience.
2. California roadtrip with WL fans and WL guys: It was incredibly awesome to not only get to meet Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Chip Esten and Jeff Davies but to meet clayangel, indybaggins and blackstray and get to spend almost a week with them. There was Disneyland, Universal Studios, two shows and a long nice roadtrip on the way up to San Francisco. And to top it off I got to go to makesmewannadie's fan gathering which was wonderful.
3. The first days of being in California: Nothing can compare to seeing LA as my plane descended, stepping out of the airport into the sun and palm trees, going to Venice Beach for the first time, dipping my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time and going to Universal Studios that first time. It was love at first sight.
4. My first Escapade: Not only was watching Cocktails with a bunch of fannish people who could understand my overwhelming squee incredibly fun, I got to go to panels, watch the vid show and walk outside to see the ocean with norwich36. Sharing my hotel room with permetaform, fashes, gelasius, poisontaster, denyce and everyone else I forgot was a complete blast not to mention talking vids after the vid show with morgandawn. Getting to see so many people I met at Vividcon was just wonderful.
5. Seeing Hollywood and Highlands for the first time: The Times Square of LA dazzled me with its beauty, stores, the stars and all the other famous attractions around. I loved seeing all the people around, the people who were dressed up and just the general vibe of entertainment love. I can't wait to go back there!
6. Meeting Melora in a private screening: It was so surreal to go to a studio and to just see Melora casually standing there talking to people. And she came up to me and greeted me and we had a personal conversation and talked about The Office which lasted like 10 minutes. I was in heaven. And then after the movie I talked to her again which was amazing. It was a huge high for me.
7. Going to Long Beach in January in 80 degree weather and swimming in the ocean: There's nothing like swimming in the Pacific Ocean in January, there really isn't. It was so cool to get that chance. And I loved Long Beach as well. It was just a very cool experience for me. Oh and I totally listened to Out Here before I went in :)
8. Going to Disneyland for the first time: I never got to go to Disneyworld or land as a kid so it was great to finally be there. I loved all the rides especially the roller coaster but nothing can ever beat Soaring Over California. I had a love affair with that ride. Not only feeling like I was flying but being able to see some of my favorite images of California was breathtaking and sums up my love for California. I want to go back to Disneyland if only to ride that ride over and over (and over) again.
9. Meeting Colin Mochrie: There was some mishaps in getting to the show but it was wonderful when I actually got to see it. Very funny show overall and so surreal to be able to watch Colin perform. But the best part was meeting him after the show (and Brad) and getting an autograph and picture. AND I got to talk to him including the much needed Ryan question. It was awesome to say the least.
10. Going to Magic Mountain: I love roller coasters so this was heaven for me. Especially X which is one of my favorite roller coasters ever. I went on a whole bunch more but that one was by far my favorite. Plus I got to see a bird show which was very cute and I got to be a volunteer. Overall, a lot of fun.

All in all, it was an absolutely amazing year in the place I love the most. I can't believe I'm going back again! Hopefully it'll be filled with even more great new memories. I'm kind of scared striking out on my own but I really want the independence that comes with it so I'm mostly just excited.

California, YAY!
