So here's my complete list of some of my favorite vids from Vividcon. These are not the only good vids from the con but the ones that stick out to me whether because of originality, emotion, movement or favorite show.
Vogue (300) by
sockkpuppett: This is a memorizing vid that uses split screen, motion with sped up/slowed down footage and color to beautiful effect. Also, there are pretty, pretty men. A must watch no matter if you've seen the movie or not. Female gaze, FTW!
Women's Work (Supernatural) by
sisabet and
sockkpuppett: This is the part of the Supernatural that most people would like to ignore. The visual treatment of women on the show can be disturbing and offensive to watch all at once but it's all from the show and vidded with the greatness you can expect with these two vidders. A feminist vid that really needs to be seen and thought about no matter your conclusions.
Snakes on a Plane (Harry Potter) by
dualbunny: The song choice makes the vid with all the awesome snake imagery in Harry Potter and little!Harry having to grow up to face the world. Hilarious clip choices and fantastic use of motion. Another great Harry Potter vid, yay!
Want (Supernatural) by
destina: Deliciously dark and sexy evil point of view vid with the lyrics fitting incredibly well. Visually this vid is stunning with distinctive images, overlays, parallels and motion. And taken from fandom's pov, it only gets better.
Sugar (Smallville) by
keewick: I never thought I'd see the day a good vid about Lana would premiere at Vividcon but this one completely blew me away. It shows Lana's relationships with Whitney, Clark and Lex and why she's with with them. The imagery is incredibly beautiful and the song choice is perfect for all the different aspects in her life.
West of Her Spine (Dexter) by
sweetestdrain: Incredibly disturbing in a very, very good way. The music has the underlying dark edge to it that works for a great twist in the point of view character showing both the true and false sides to his soft sides. A unique and very affecting Dexter vid.
Martina (Veronica Mars) by
keewick: I was so excited to see a VM vid and this one did not disappoint at all. Also, I totally guessed this one was by Keely and I suck at guessing but the distinctive song choice and quick cutting with emotional impact gave it away for me. It explores the rape arcs on Veronica Mars with frightening images as well as the way Veronica stays strong throughout it. The clicks of shoes walking and the internal motion in this particularly win me over.
Beethoven's Fifth of Gold Digger (Gone With The Wind) by
absolutedestiny: You would not expect Kanye West's Goldigger to work with the movie but it does somehow. I love the cutting and the great clip-lyric matches especially. The underlying gender and race issues are interesting as well which
absolutedestiny talks about in his LJ.
Filthy Mind (Multifandom) by
sol_se: So many amazing parallels between shows in this vid. If you vid three rains of bloods, I am almost guarenteed to love the vid. Not to mention Faith and Sam (from Life on Mars) dancing. The cutting is great either quickly pulling you into all the great associations or lingering on the best ones as well as the motions all moving right into one another. Very, very cool.
Nothing New (Firefly) by
heresluck: Oh, MAL. A beautiful, heartbreaking look at the Mal/Inara relationship with perfect song choice (as usual) and such pretty motion. If the last clip doesn't break your heart, there's nothing I can do to help you.
Falling For The First Time (Supernatural) by
sisabet: So cute! This is Wincest (complete with a manip) so don't say I didn't warn you. The vid uses all the boys cute expressions with the lyrics really well to show off the joy of the brothers but doesn't gloss over the hard parts of their life and relationships either. This is the Supernatural I want to watch.
Cold As It Gets (Friday Night Lights( by
barkley: FNL! I love how this shows how the town affects Tyra as well as all the different aspects of her life. It portrays the sad side of what the town can do to a person so well and Tyra fighting for her own life in it. Makes me love Tyra a lot more than I did on the show so that's always good. Also, watch the show people! It's not really about football.
Falling From the Sky (Battlestar Galactica by
jarrow272: I loved the focus of this video on Starbuck's role as a pilot and teaching other pilots that makes it different from most Starbuck vids out there. The external motion in this is very cool especially when it's perfectly matched up to the music sounds. I love how the vid shows Starbuck's relationships with the pilots and how that makes it more emotionally investing in the flying sequences and what's at stake for Kara.
BINGO (Canada) by
barkley and friends: A brilliant concept of showing the incestous nature of all the shows filmed in Vancouver and how the actors are all recognizable in so many shows. And yes, the actor you'd expect to be in it is the best part of the entire vid.
Left Behind (Due South) by
jackiekjono: Dief! There needs to be more vids about the cutest half-wolf out there. I love how well the cutting pace matches the music and the transitions fit very well. Some of the clip choices are just too funny and the choruses are filled with aww, poor Dief moments. Also, Fraser is a dork.
Improper Dancing (Multifandom) by
marycrawford: So many awesome shows and so many great parallels between all of them. There are some really funny clips and clip-lyric matching not to mention the vidder uses the song really well. Perfect end clip that completely seals the vid for me as well.
People Get Ready (Heroes) by
heresluck: I love how this vid shows the quiet moments of Heroes and shows all the members of the ensemble, giving everyone an equal voice. It shows the characters' moments of questioning, decision and showing what is important to them which is often the love in their relationships. It really uses the musical changes with cutting and clip choices and the motion just flows right into each other. So beautiful.
Only (Battlestar Galactica) by
cherryice: I am absolutely in love with the motion in this video. The cutting never lets up and everything adds up to show the confusing nature of the Final Four (plus one) and how they deal with it. Very interesting and rewatchable. HUGE spoilers in this vid but very worth watching.
I Remember (Charlie Jade) by
gwyn_r: The beautiful colors and landscapes in this video are gorgeous and draw you in from the first clips. If you need more of a reason to watch it just for that, it was filmed in South Africa, not LA or Vancouver. The music works really well for the images and the cutting really works for me. Have I mentioned that it's really, really pretty? I must watch this show very soon and so does most everyone else who saw it at VVC if the large numbers of hands that went up at the question is any indication.
Paul McCartney (Will & Grace) by
jarrow272: Bouncing gays pretty much sums this vid right up. It's so cute and uses internal motion very well. I love all the parallels between all the crazy, fun actions of the characters and the love they all have for each other. I was so psyched to see a comedy show vid and this one lives up to it delightfully.
Rock This Party (Happy Feet) by
mranderson71: Dancing penguins! The lip synching to the different voices by looks is awesome. Incredibly danceable and cute.
Let's Go Crazy (Battlestar Galactica) by
laurashapiro and
sdwolfpup: This vid is worth watching if only for the hilarious crazy!Balter expressions at the end that make me laugh everytime. There is also some great uses of motion and too perfect clip-lyric matches starting from Baltar as the Hollywood doctor and continuing from there.

Speaking of Baltar, when I first watch Battlestar Galactica, I hated him. I thought he was scum of the earth who deserved to die horribly. But then I stopped taking him seriously. Now I see him as funny and enjoy him from a distance. I even have a bit of a fondness for him. It definitely helps me enjoy the show more.
I have all the VVC discs burned on my computer now so I have a great playlist with all of them plus the auction vids. It's lots of fun to listen to and go back and watch. I collected a bunch of vid discs from Vividcon including 2004 Premieres (which I'm SO happy to have),
heresluck's vids (she's currently taking orders for them
here),
greensilver and
cherryice's vids,
morgandawn and friends' vids,
gwyn_r and friends' vids and
absolutedestiny's vids. And
melina123's vid DVD should be coming soon. Not a bad collection along with my VVC2005, VVC2006, Bascon and Escapade discs. I love seeing vids on TV and high quality on my computer.
I finished Stargate Atlantis! I enjoyed it except for
Carson dying. WTF, show! During the episode I had been loving him and declaring him my second favorite character when all of a sudden he died when I wasn't expecting it. The end was incredibly sad but I haven't forgiven the show for doing it yet. The only good was seeing Kaylee/Jewel in the finale. Still in love with Rodney and excited for next season. I hope they continue to make more character focused episodes and 3-D villians.
I cannot wait for The Office DVDs come out! I probably won't finish my vids for the show until after they do so I can have shiny DVD vids. My plan to begin trying to vid everyday is stalled at the moment as I try to finish VVC stuff but I really hope I can start soon. My New Year's resolution was to "Vid More. Vid Better." so I'm hoping actively trying to make vidding a habit will help with the first part. I have 10 vids I'd like to finish by the end of the year or at least by January so we'll see how that goes.
