2013 End of the Year Meme
Here is my annual end of the year meme:
1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Skydive! Visit London, Ireland, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Brussels, Ghent and fly on an international flight for over 10 hours to get there. Get a real adult job making good money. Go to Wincon and ride in Vegas rollercoasters. Speak another language in a foreign country. Watched The Voice live (and got to see Blake kiss Adam - not on the lips but close) and saw OneRepublic and Maroon 5 in concert. Go to Oakland Pride. Dance and make out with a guy in a foreign country. Gamble in Vegas. Give my cousin's son presents for Christmas. Make a Vividcon Auction vid. Hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. Sit in the first level during a Syracuse Orange basketball game at the Carrier Dome. See a Medieval show in Vegas. Explored the Berkley campus. Saw the Breaking Bad finale at the Hollywood Cemetery with the creator, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston along with going inside the trailer where they first made meth. Saw Lana Parilla and the cast of OUAT live at Paley Fest. Saw a live Whose Line is it Anyway taping with Ryan and Colin. Go on a Harry Potter and Game of Thrones tour! Sooooo amazing.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I was a little more active doing some running, weight training and swimming but I could have done a lot more. I would say my resolution for this year is to read a book at least 10 minutes a day and do at least 5 minutes of Spanish practice a day.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin's wife had a baby last November.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My mom.
5. What countries did you visit?
I can finally say I did! I visited the United Kingdom (London and Belfast/Northern Ireland), France (Paris and a city in South France), Germany (Berlin and Munich), Belgium (Brussels and Ghent) and Italy (Rome!!!! my favorite <3). I briefly stopped in airports in Vienna and Copenhagen but that doesn't really count.
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
A romantic relationship! For real this time.
7. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 29 when I found out my mom died. Also October 30th when I stepped off the airplane into London for my first trip to Europe.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finally visiting Europe! Also getting a good job.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting out more and dating/finding more new friends.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing besides coughs and colds.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Airplane tickets to Europe! And hostels/hotels and Game of Throne tour and most everything related to Europe trip. Also would add skydiving on there as well as a lot of electronics including new Macbook Pro for vidding/coding, iPad and 60 inch TV :)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The Supreme Court for finally getting rid of DOMA and getting gay marriage finally in California. Personally, all my friends and family for being there for me this year.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Congress and the NSA. Ughhh so gross.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Besides rent and food, travel was a huge one along with electronics.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
EUROPE!!! Rome was particularly amazing and a I had an amazing experience dancing (and kissing someone) at a club in Berlin. Vividcon, Wincon and Escapade were all highlights along with roadtripping with
elipie to Vegas. SKYDIVING! Fannish wise, Game of Thrones (Jaime/Cersei reuion!!) OUAT Swan Queen moments, Adam/Blake slashy moments, Alex/Piper shippy stuff, crazy TV like Spartacus and Scandal epic moments, Breaking Bad epic stuff, Ryan/Colin kissing, new Arrested Development!). Seeing Lana Parilla and Aaron Paul in person was great too!
16. What song will always remind you of 2012?

Dating, working out, hanging out with friends, reading.

Unhappiness at work/looking for a job, being lonely, wasting time on the internet.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Opening presents, Christmas dinner and watching Heat vs. Lakers with family, hanging out online, vidding.
21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Dancing at Syracuse clubs.
22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
Nope (except with Rome).
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Breaking Bad. Runner ups are Parks & Recreation and Game of Thrones.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
George Zimmerman ughhhh.
26. What was the best book you read?
I loved London the Novel the most. So cool to weave history into rich narratives with an emotional family tree element. Nonfiction-wise, The Talent Code was an eyeopener that taught me a lot of where talent really comes from.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I fell in love with OneRepublic this year as a lot of their best stuff is not on the radio. Other bands I love were AWOLNATION and The Cab.
28. What did you want and get?
A new good job, a trip to Europe, skydiving for the first time, more money and savings.
29. What did you want and not get?
A romantic relationship, more close friends, losing weight.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm behind on my Oscars watch but out of the ones I've seen, Catching Fire was my favorite.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was at Wincon in Las Vegas so I went to panels, went to an Italian restaurant with friends and had cake, saw Once Upon a Feeling with other fans and then Shelter with friends in our hotel room.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Love.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Game of Thrones shirts and hoodie :)
34. What kept you sane?
LA, friends, shipping, vidding, hopes for the future.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
Prioritize spending quality time with family and friends and ask them questions and tell them important things when you can, don't wait. Also work hard towards making an impact on the important things in life and keep evaluating what that is.
