End of Year Meme 2012
Here is my annual End of Year Meme. I love going back and reading my old ones so I must always do it. I'm going to do the Vidding meme next week when I can reveal my OUAT exchange gift.
1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Live in San Francisco (in hostels), learn to code, get a girl that I like to dance with me, live in Downtown LA (with friends!), camp/hike in Yosemite, drive the PCH (I've ridden it but didn't drive myself), see 1D in concert (and feel old), work at a startup, go to a Halloween amusement park day, go to Friendsgiving, make a Challenge vid for VVC, read/see the Lord of the Rings books/movies (x2, once in a theater), visit Downtown Denver and Boulder, have a tire blow out, have a post VVC vid party, visit with
lianri in LA, celebrated the Superbowl win with Giants fans (when they won), had a beach bonfire party and VISITED THE APPLE CAMPUS. Yeah that was a fucking awesome dream come true. If only I could meet Steve...
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Kind of. I didn't exactly code every day but I coded a LOT and I'm alright at it now. Did not do well with the small portions eating thing. For next year, my resolution is to be active every day whether it be walking, playing tennis, running, swimming, weights, whatever.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Next year this will definitely change, for realsies. Europe here I come!
6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
A serious romantic relationship. Or casual. I'm not too picky.
7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I always suck at this questions. It's not dates but memories for me. The only date that comes to mind is November 6th when Obama won his SECOND presidential term :) Oh and October 1st when I got some crappy news that caused a freakout.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
A tie between learning Ruby on Rails so I can get jobs in it and finally living in Downtown LA.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Sucking at money. I fucking hate money.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had some annoying coughs and colds in the beginning of the year but nothing too bad.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
This feels lame but I had a GREAT time at the 1D concert. It was fun to scream and sing like a 12 year old girl since I never got to do that when I was a kid in love with the Spice Girls and N'Sync. Otherwise, Vividcon membership/hotel/plane ticket. One of my favorite memories of the year.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I'm so bad at this question but let's say my friends, online and off for being so awesome and fun and supportive.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Romney and idiot Republicans especially the rape philosophers. Anti-gay marriage/homophobic people in general.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, gas, the basics mostly. I did eat out more this year.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Being back in LA at Escapade, Swan Queen (reunion!!!), Obama winning, Vividcon, Homeland esp beginning of S2.
16. What song will always remind you of 2012?
What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction definitely.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Dating, working out, saving money, coding.

Vidding for festivids, playing a game, watching TV, nothing special.
21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Traveling back to LA and partying at the Bootie mashup party with friends and alcohol.

Sadly no :(

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Homeland. Runner ups are Once Upon a Time, Parks & Recreation and Game of Thrones.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really. Romney I guess.
26. What was the best book you read?
A Song of Ice and Fire!!! A Storm of Swords was probably my favorite but all five books are HIGHLY recommended for loving the characters and plot and the great fantasy elements. Also I loved the Lord of the Ring books (especially Return of the King) and Know Not Why (which everyone should read especially if you like gay coming of age YA!).
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
One Direction! Haha no. I didn't like Nicki Minaj's stuff on the radio but I enjoyed her album a lot more and I also found this band I really enjoy called Savoir Adore, love their sound.
28. What did you want and get?
A programming job (3), an apartment in downtown LA with friends, time to hang out with
elipie and other vidders/fannish people in LA, a new OTP (2), kitties!, vacation on my birthday,
29. What did you want and not get?
A romantic relationship, more money
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm going to give this to Life of Pi. It was SUPER PRETTY and I loved the story and TIGER. Close behind would be The Hunger Games, The Hobbit and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I finished driving to Denver, took a nap, hung out with
asuka14 in Downtown Denver, finished my Swan Queen vid and hung out with people in vid chat. I'm 25, so weird.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Love.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Arclight Hoodie and pants.
34. What kept you sane?
LA (when I was there), friends, TV, vidding and ships.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Going to give this to Lana Parilla because OMG SHE IS SO HOT DO ME DO ME. Me and a lot of the Once Upon a Time fandom :)
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Barack Obama winning the Presdency! For like three days lol. Also gay marriage being approved in a bunch of states.
37. Who did you miss?
LA for two months, friends when separated, my cats in NY.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a fellow girl Ruby programmer who it was great to meet and code with. Fannish wise, it was great to meet and hang out with

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
Don't live in a place other than LA for more than two weeks or you'll fee SUPER homesick and depressed and end up hating that place. Charge your phone completely before hiking and don't hike up mountains if you're going to have to hike in the dark at any point.
