Location: The Wanting Place
Status: Private
Summary: All attempts to find her place come to naught.
Complete: Complete.
For nearly two weeks Parvati had tried to find a job around Annwn that suited her, but nothing seemed to really call to her, and in Annwn she’d learned that when something was right, she would know. So she looked, and looked, and nothing had that feeling, the same feeling she’d had when she found her flat. After she ran out of options, she began to think that perhaps the reason no jobs seemed right was because she wasn’t meant to work for someone else.
This put it in her head that perhaps, just perhaps, she should open her own establishment. What sort of establishment she had yet to figure out, and that was what took her to the Wanting Place.
Alone, she sat in the center as the surrounding changed, then melted around her and changed again, flashing from setting to setting. Anything she thought of, the Wanting Place provided, and replaced with her next whim as soon as she changed her mind. In half an hour, she’d definitely ruled out running a restaurant (after all, Annwn had enough of those), and an animal farm even though she’d love to work with animals again. She just didn’t know where she’d get the animals. She also ruled out a travel agency, music studio, interior design studio (though she’d considered that one longer than the others), modeling agency, and candle shop.
Sitting there, she signed and let the candle shop around her dissolve until she sat alone in the middle of the Wanting Place. None of those things would work for her, none of them felt right either. They’d all seemed much too… too boring. Too tame. If Parvati had figured anything out from her soul-searching, it was that like it or not, she simply was not a tame person. She’d liked her life before she came to Annwn, aside from the perceived need to have nine locks on her doors. In Annwn she felt relatively safe, and that was reason enough to stay. Even if it was boring. What it needed was something to liven things up a little.
Without warning, another image began to take shape around her, of a building much larger and wide open than any of the previous ones. Parvati blinked in surprise, looking around her as something from her subconscious took over without her permission.
The walls that rose into being were painted white and gold, and sheer material draped in strategic places to cut off some of the tables that also took shape away from others into private alcoves. There weren’t many tables, though, as most of the huge space was left open. Parvati had a sneaking suspicion by now what was going on, and grinned.
To her right, against the wall, formed a bar with a full stockpile of alcohol to serve drinks, but this building wasn’t meant to be only a bar. Oh no, it was far more than that. With a grin, Parvati stood from the floor and went to the door, outside to look up above the entrance.
The white sign read in gold letters: The Golden Apple. Below that, in smaller, black-painted letters: Night Club.
Perfect. Absolutely perfect. What decorations existed within the created building in the Wanting Place could easily be conjured, summoned or bought.
Wait. She had money, but not that much. Parvati’s grin faded as she looked at this, the perfect niche for her in Annwn, and realized it wasn’t feasible, not with her current funds. She had no way of raising the necessary funds to start a club like this, especially considering the theme that jumped out at her. No way would she be able to afford all the paint, décor, alcohol, lights, music, costumes for herself and employees, furniture, etc.
So close, only to have the dream crushed at the last moment. Wiping at her eyes, Parvati turned away from the building, and walked from the Wanting Place. She didn’t watch The Golden Apple dissolve to nothing, as she knew it never really existed, and never would.
