He thought to himself as he walked up to their flat that things were getting better between the three of them and Tracey had almost taken on big sisterly role toward Luna while Luna was still finding ways to care for Tracey. It wasn't a perfect relationship but it was a damn sight better than a month or so ago.
As he opened the door of the flat, he expected to be greeted by Luna who was normally home by this time, cooking dinner. But when he saw Tracey cooking, he frowned but then brightened, watching her for a minute as she placed what looked like a roast into the oven. When she was done, he walked up behind her, curving his arms around her waist. Zach buried his nose into her hair while kissing along the back of neck as he said, "You look damn good there, love. Although its not cooking I have on my mind." He moved his mouth and kissed the crown of her head while he whispered. "So what've you been up to?"

This would change everything. Tracey knew it, but she just wasn't sure how. What would they do with the child? Keep it? Abort it? Give it up? Tracey highly doubted the latter two. Luna wasn't the type. Once she stopped being sick, Luna would undoubtedly be the cutest, most sickening mother-to-be that Tracey had ever encountered. Which led to another question. How would this affect her place in this equation? Three together, or as together as they were anyway, was different from a couple with a child. Tracey wasn't sure how well she would fit.
Wrapping her finger tightly in a cloth, Tracey cleaned the vegetables and finished chopping them before putting them in a pan on the stove before taking the roast and placing it in the oven.
When she stood again, it was to feel arms wrap around her waist. She gasped before sighing, her neck arching into his touch as Tracey shut her eyes and savored his touch. Half of her was tempted to let him continue this, knowing full well they'd end up fucking if she did, but then she thought of Luna and sighed again, pulling away a little to look at him. "You should go check on Luna, love. She hasn't been feeling well."

"You cut yourself again." He lifted her hand and took the paper towel off her finger before taking out his wand, casting a quick healing charm on her digit. "Honestly, you need to be more careful." Zach scolded but smirked to show he was teasing.
As he kissed her finger, a troubled haze crossed her features, her mind elsewhere and he was about to ask what had happened when she told him to check on Luna. He placed his head on her shoulder, not wanting to leave Tracey alone and tilted his lips toward her, kissing Tracey on the cheek. "I'll go in a minute. But I need to know if everything okay with you?"

It was loyalty to Luna. That was even stranger though, because she didn't even really like Luna.
After she told him to check on Luna, he was surprised when he didn't leave right away. She turned her head and met his mouth with her own, kissing him softly. "I'm fine. It's Luna you should see." Then she raised her hand and cupped his cheek. "I'll be here when you're done, if you need me."
Then Tracey turned away and went back to making dinner."

He still wondered what had happened to trigger this sudden hesitancy in Tracey but he'd trust her, even if he still worried about her. She cupped his cheek and Zach reacted, pulling her to him as he kissed her deeply, hoping to take away some of her fears, whatever they were. Pulling back, he paused, looking at her before he nodded at Tracey, smiling his reassurance. "I'll be right back."
Zach let her go, backing away before he turned and walked over toward Luna's bedroom. He knocked softly, opening the door and looking into the darkened space before he said, "Luna, love. Is everything okay?"

Dimly, Luna heard the door open and paused, nausea almost consuming her as fear leapt up to join it in her throat. She swallowed and listened to Tracey and Zach talking, speaking in low tones that made it impossible for Luna to decipher. She turned laying on her back and moaning ever so softly as she waited for the inevitable.
Sure enough, Zach walked in a few moments later, looking concerned to see her in bed. It was then that it occurred to Luna that Tracey had done her both a kindness and a cruelty. She hadn't told Zach what the problem was, true enough, but she had also trapped Luna. She would have no choice to tell him the truth now.
Slowly, Luna sat up, wincing as even that made her dizzy, and she looked up at him, smiling a little to hold back the nausea. "I'm not feeling so well. Sorry, I wasn't up to see you."

He didn't really know what to do, part of him wondering if he should leave her alone to rest or should he pull up a chair and care for her. But Zach opted for a third choice and after toeing off his shoes, he slid into the bed next to Luna bringing her body to lie against him in a spoon.
Zach was careful with her, his fingers grazing along her side before curving around to her stomach. He didn't like her this way and missed the lightness of being she brought into his life. But he knew that was selfish and she needed him now. Zach kissed Luna's hair, noticing the slightly sickly sweet tinge on her as he pulled her to him gently while he said, "What's wrong?"

It occurred to her that she could stay like this forever. Curled up safe and secure in his arms. It made her feel truly content and as though absolutely nothing could go wrong. Then he spoke, and she frowned, knowing that it wasn't true, and that it would all change in a moment. She turned over, burying her face against his chest and shaking her head the tiniest bit.
After a moment though, she couldn't stop. She couldn't lie to him. He had to know the truth. "I'm pregnant, Zach."

But he'd changed. Luna and Tracey had changed him and even if his body did stiffen, he held onto Luna for dear life, an anchor in the maelstrom of emotions he was feeling at the current moment. His hand flattened on her belly, fingers gone stiff before he breathed deeply, calming himself.
He could have asked the obvious stupid questions like was she sure it was his but he knew instinctively that it was because it had only been him with Luna. Zach brought his hand up to stroke through her hair, turning her face up to him and kissing her. He thought he was going to vomit himself but he tamped it down, instead trying to project a strength in his slight smile when their kiss ended. His hand stroked along her cheek as he asked, "So how long has it been?"

Then his grip tightened, and she felt relief fill her. She sighed softly, her face burying further into his shirt. When his hand brushed her belly, she stiffened a little, but let him touch, knowing that it would soon all change, and that he had a right to share in that.
When he kissed her, she whimpered softly, knowing he bothered but glad that he was trying to be strong. She knew it was a facade, but she also knew she couldn't handle the truth. When he pulled away, she returned that little smile, knowing it meant the world to her. He asked how long, and she shrugged a little. "About eight weeks, the test said."

Better than him probably.
His mind stretched in a thousand directions as the crashing reality of his impending fatherhood found the forefront of his mind. This was responsibility and nappies and the next eighteen years making sure the little shit doesn't turn out to be the same as you. It was daunting and it was hard for Zach to see him as a father, since he could barely care for himself.
He did a quick mental calculation in his head. "Two months then." Zach snorted and then shook his head. "It would have been right after our first time together." He smiled in amusement and kissed Luna on the cheek. "I umm...guess we got it right."
Zach thought he was going to puke, his stomach was churning so wildly but he held it together. There were still so many questions he had to ask but before he could begin to fathom the implications of what Luna had just told him, he asked, "You are planning on keeping it, right?"

It was stupid when she thought how preventable it had been. Now though, she had to deal with it, and she had to help him deal with it too. She turned her face up to him, kissing him very gently, trying to keep him calmed and soothed. "Yes, about that long." She reached up to cup his cheek. "I guess we did." She wished she could say something more comforting, but there was little she could do.
When he asked if she was going to keep it, she bit her lip, not sure what to say, not sure what response would make him happy. She knew it was too soon, too much. She knew that the best response would be that she would get rid of it, end it, but it all seemed so callous, so cold. She took a deep breath, not surprised by its harshness. "Do you want me to?"

But he couldn't do that because the burden of responsibility for their child was his and he needed to step up and be a man in order to ensure their baby would have a proper upbringing.
He felt her go stiff when he asked about keeping the baby and he knew that it sounded as if he wanted to get rid of their child. Zach sat up, his hand still touching her as he thought for a moment. Finally, he formed his response and after taking a deep breath, he said, "I love you, Luna." Zach leaned forward, kissing her cheek. "That means I love everything about you." His hand slid down to her belly once more. "I want us to have this baby, love." He smiled as pulled away. "I don't think I'd want it any other way."

When he finally looked into her eyes and spoke, Luna felt the tension go out of her, and the world spun. She clamped her eyes shut tightly, trying to keep her body under control as he spoke. His hand slid down to her stomach, and it calmed her somewhat. She took a deep breath and smiled up at him, her first genuine smile of the day. "I love you too, Zach." Her eyes filled with tears. "I want this baby, Zach. I want it so much."

Even if every part of him wanted to.
He thought about everything he needed to do now, how he needed to make more money, spend more time with Luna and then try to balance everything with Tracey. Zach was worried about facing her but it wasn't the anger or jealousy he was concerned about, it was the hurt he wanted to take away.
"I want the baby too." Zach's mind returned to the present and he turned her onto her back. He crossed his legs and then stroked his hand through her hair while he smiled. "So what do you think it is? What will our baby look like? I have they have your eyes."

It was a big change for all of them, and Luna knew it. She would have to start thinking of converting the spare room into a nursery or even a bigger place, since Tracey still needed her own room. A bigger place meant they would have to start looking around for one, and that was quite a bit of walking and work. She also knew there were money concerns. Only one out of three of them was working. Perhaps she should get a job? She would think that over a while.
When he spoke, Luna looked up and smiled again. She didn't think that he totally wanted it, but she knew that he would. Once it became real, and she held the baby in his arms, he would want it. Luna leaned into his touch before sighing softly. That she would never tire of, his hands in her hair. "I hope it's a boy." She looked up at him and smiled. "And I'm sure he'll be beautiful."
