The Entity still could not believe it what had happened last night and found itself still in wonder as people began to gather in front of it for its version of Litha, the pagan ritualistic festival that this vermin’s ancestors celebrated at one time in their dark and obviously primitive past. It was more commonly known today as the Midsummer’s Night but the Entity had decided to incorporate some of the aspects that participants once used to pay tribute to the Sun God of this world.
At one time, it would have imagined itself in the Sun God’s throne, power absolute as it crushed its minions underfoot but it had found out in research that the God in this aspect was benevolent, providing warmth and sustenance for all. But the Entity had found too that this was a night filled with energy and power, one that most people could not detect. The latent power was intoxicating, invigorating and it knew that the spirit realms had opened, more so than at any day it had experienced on this earth so far.
Its plans for the evening were simple. There would be music, merriment, dancing and food, a celebration of light that this pestilence would enjoy immensely. It expected the emotion emitted here would be as powerful as those that were harnessed at the maze, even if the emotions which would be on display would be light and airy, more difficult to manage.
But the air seemed to almost crackle on the Entity’s skin and it shivered slightly before it looked over at Tonks and Teddy. It had eschewed the use of the Herald tonight and decided to let itself be seen by the rank and file that populated the town. The Entity still could not believe how the place had grown and it paused before it stepped up to the dais. The choices it had made would affect its children and it was at a loss as its goals when it came to this world clashed significantly with what had occurred in its life since then. No matter which way it decided to progress though, the energy here and gathered through its gift would be needed.
It did not have time to dwell on this troubling fact though and instead focused on the large bonfire in the center of the clearing and the smaller ones that surrounded them. The Entity then enacted the second part of its plan as a series of small journals appeared, gift wrapped with people’s names emblazoned upon the front of them. It had thought of this idea from watching Dora work with Teddy on his writing and the parchment he kept that seemed to be woven together like a story. But instead, the Entity would bind people to their journals unobtrusively, the spell coming to life when the receiver touched the leather bound cover. They would not know why but they would each at points in time, feel compelled to answer a small prompt that the Entity would place in their mind through the journal itself. Those who chose could even see into the minds of others through their journals and respond in kind.
The Entity hoped that the energy emitted here would be phenomenal as people found out more about one another than they could have possibly known before and interacted through the journals. The experiment would allow people in town to be more at ease though with their fellow mortals as they shared in a common plight. But it had compelled itself also to this spell and its own journal rested upon its desk at home. It did not know why it had done this but it suspected it was the annoying sense of fairness that Tonks had instilled in it and it would reveal parts of itself although the spell’s effects would not be as strong upon it.
Still, it wondered what would occur and it found itself frowning at the unknown before it stepped onto the small platform. It focused completely on the chattel gathered and amplified its voice to be heard above the nonsensical chatter going on. “Good evening.” It began as the night sunk down upon the gathered and the bonfires were ignited, the flames chasing away the gray black backdrop of the pre-moonlit sky. “Tonight is a celebration of light and to honor that this feast and the fires are for you to enjoy long into the night.”
The Entity let its eyes drift over the crowd as it continued. “I do hope that you will enjoy this festival and I want to thank you for your continued presence in town and in helping to build Annwn.” It paused once more and smiled. “As a token of my appreciation, a gift has been provided for every one in town and is sitting on the tables over there.” The Entity gestured toward the area it spoke about before it smiled and then added. “Now, I won’t hold you back from your enjoyment, so let the party begin.”
It amplified its words at the end before it stepped off the dais and looked over the people again. The synergy of man and fey still buzzed in the air around it and it could feel the faerie energy flow. It concentrated for a moment before it sensed the thin fabric that still separated this world from the other before it dropped the curtain and for one night, it set free the passion of the fey.
