It was nothing short of a miracle that Regulus had managed to convince Sirius that it was perfectly alright to take Parvati outside the house.
Regulus had come over mid-afternoon, and while Parvati had been in another room, he had cast a quick Silencing Charm so that he and Sirius could debate the matter without being overhead.
"You even sure she wants to do this?" Sirius asked.
"Yes, she wants to go," Regulus said, glancing towards the room where he knew Parvati was. "She has some meetings with wholesellers soon, and she wants to be used to going out before then."
Sirius nodded, but there was still concern on his face. Regulus knew that his brother was completely incapable of hiding what he was feeling and thinking, a stark contrast to his own inexpressiveness. He didn't want Parvati to go out, or perhaps he didn't want her to go out without him.
"Where are you taking her?" Sirius asked, his voice still sounding unsure.
"I don't know. Wherever she decides," Regulus said with a shrug. "Maybe we'll get something to eat. Merlin knows she'll waste away if she's only allowed take-out and your cooking."
Sirius didn't even seem to hear the jab at his culinary skills. He was still looking concerned, and with a small sigh, Regulus added, "Nothing's going to happen. If she gets upset, we'll Apparate right back here. And if anyone touches her in any way, shape, or form, I will Avada Kedavra them on the spot, and then put the body through a meat-grinder just to be on the safe side."
Arching an eyebrow, Regulus asked, "Think that'll be fine?"
Sirius nodded, even though it looked like he could think up a thousand more objections to this plan. Regulus knew why Sirius was so protective. He'd left Parvati unguarded once, and he felt guilty and was trying to compensate for it now. But Regulus knew that he could do just as good a job watching Parvati as he could. Hell, maybe a better one; he was the sensible brother.
Though, Regulus also suspected that another reason that Sirius was so protective. After all, Sirius Black didn't regularly let women stay in his house for as long as this, especially with no end in sight. And he didn't get this protective over them. Really, he and Parvati were about one drunken realization and a teary confession from being a couple.
Taking off the Silencing Charm, Regulus went to where Parvati was. With a small smile, he stood in the doorway. "You ready, Parvati?"
