Oliver had been working extra hard on the restaurant to prepare for this day. It wasn’t the opening of the place although he and Tracey were mightily close to realizing that dream. But today was an even more special day because it was Alicia Spinnet’s birthday and Oliver aimed to do something nifty keen special. He thought he had and as he looked around the courtyard, he grinned because he and Tracey had done a fine job cleaning the place up and when Oliver had found a little outdoor storage area, he had a terrific plan, at least in his mind.
After placing a table and chairs in his out of the way spot, Oliver went to the market where he’d purchased assorted fauna and then a glow ball. He coaxed some fairies into the ball to provide lighting and spread the plants all over the little area. When he was done, he took his wand and etched onto a rectangular board, ‘Alicia’s Alcove’ which he hung with chains over the little
space.
He was proud of his handiwork and even if he wasn’t the most romantic sod in the world, Oliver did try and he hoped that Alicia would enjoy what he’d done. Oliver knew he could have taken her to France to eat dinner along the Seine but somehow, he needed to do something with his hands for her because it would mean so much more than just using one of the Fields to take them where they wanted.
Oliver went back inside. He had fixed dinner and had told her to meet him at seven o’clock on the dot by the fountain. Even though Oliver hadn’t had any formal training, he could do a few things with a stove and he’d fixed her a meal he hoped she’d enjoy. They’d start out with cream of artichoke soup, followed by steamed mussels with fresh herbs, then for the main course, he had found tuna steaks at the market and prepared then with a spinach and citrus vinaigrette before they’d eat his proudest accomplishment, a chocolate espresso cake with the appropriate number of candles.
Everything was placed under warming charms, directly in line with the door, so when he needed to summon items, there wouldn’t be the massive risk of the food being jostled. Still, he fretted about that but he dismissed the thought. Alicia would be meeting him soon and he walked over to their spot for dinner and straightened the silverware before he smiled, then strode over to the fountain to wait for Alicia.
