Dean's concept of going out to eat normally consisted of food in wrappers, boxes or if he was lucky, newspaper. He was used to a slightly pungent, vomity smell or the clean linen or the fact the fork tines weren't bent at odd angles or the spoons didn't have some type of white crap on it. But he'd promised to take Barr out and since he'd had Chinese, Pub food and Indian over the past few day, that left Leonardo's and he was perfectly happy with that.
He was even happier to be here with Barr and as they entered the restaurant, he was proud to have the prettiest woman in the entire place on his arm. "You look great." Dean leaned over and said quietly before he glanced around the restaurant and saw about fifty trillion people in the place. "I didn't think Annwn had this many people in it." But he felt good because he'd thought ahead and made reservations, so he strode up to the Maitre'd and said confidently. "Two for Thomas."
Dean leaned on the little stand and smiled at Barr. The Maite'd with the somewhat sleazy pencil thin moustache looked at him haughtily before he ran a finger over the parchment in front of him and replied. "We already sat a Thomas. I am sorry. You will need to wait with the others." He gestured toward about three hundred people standing around.
"But I'm Thomas." Dean replied, crestfallen. "Those were my reservations." He whined. "I'm Dean Thomas."
"If they were, you're three minutes late and we have a policy." The greasy Maitre'd replied defensively and then called. "Fii Ishy Table for two." A hideous woman with a peg leg waddled by and gave Dean a mean look from her good eye, the one not under the patch. He would have said something except for that growth that seemed to move all over her left cheek and the way her nose hair seemed to whisper softly in the wind.
So Dean just scowled back before he looked past her and saw a midget eating with a Slytherin chick. He grinned over to Barr and ducked past the Maitr'd, bringing Barr with him while he smiled. "I think I found our table."
Meeting with Su earlier that day, had been both developing and revealing. They had gotten a lot of things done, but even more things discussed and pulled out into the open. To Barr’s surprise she had found that as much as she had been scared of what had happened during the kidnapping, it didn’t upset her anymore, so when Dean came over, after Su had left, and had invited her out to dinner, she had happily agreed, and had quickly changed into something dressier, than her slinking around at home clothes.
As they walked through the front door, it struck her that she hadn’t ever seen Dean dressed up like this, just like there was something exhilarating about being out on a date date, dressed up in a dress and high heels. Made her feel… it made her blush and even moreso when he complimented her, in a voice that made her feel like she was the only one there.
She watched him from a distance as he talked to the Maitre’d, looking very confident at first, and then as his confidence seemed to get burst somehow, she began to worry a bit. Drawing a bit closer to him, she heard how they had given his reservations to somebody else, and it made her frown at the man behind the counter, for being a fool - a stuck up fool, and if it hadn’t been for Dean inviting her here tonight, having made all the preparations, she would have left, and gone somewhere else.
“Three minutes..?” Barr started, but just as soon found her fingers laced with Dean’s and herself pulled along after him, as she ran a bit to catch up with him. “Dean… what are you..?” she laughed softly, when she finally did catch up with him, only to spot and recognize the face of “Seamus?” she burst out in surprise, and she realized what Dean was up to.
But Seamus was with a girl, and… was it really appropriate for them to interfere like this? The girl, however, seemed to know Dean too, so… maybe it wasn’t that bad.
