When asked why someone climbed Mount Everest, their answer was "because it was there. Making stuff remotely is my solution to the problem of "talking animals, both real and fictional". CBC radio played a podcast called "Dinner on Mars" about the agricultural challenges that will eventually allow us to make food on Mars and other materials like drugs. I want to meet as many animal species as possible in person. For many species, going to remote land masses is the only way (including Antarctica and Australia). Living in a mobile unit and traveling the globe in that unit would be a possible solution. Robots as man-made animals is still within the "talking animals, both real and fictional" goal.
