Because I need to do something else than whine about my lingual incompatibility with most of the world, I'm choosing to post the massive Bella-and-Rodolphus meta
celta_diabolica has been nudging me to post. Hee. I much prefer this to medieval German kings right now.
This is long. On them separately and together; sort of the base for my personal fanon.
(
Rodolphus )
Of course children raised the way they were, or forced in a physiological (and sometimes physical)way to do what was the "proper" thing to do, followed the conventions of their class. He would do anything that his family name obliged him to do, but not an outsider! Not in that obsessive, fanatic way Bella did, or to use force and torture to feel superior, because he KNEW he was superior, in power, status yes, but mostly intelligence and skills.
Probably he did it, because it was what it was what was expected, from the heir of one of the most important families, or just because he saw something to profit from it, but like Regulus he soon realized that they were being used.
Neurotic, yes, ehehe, he had to be!That is what makes him human. He is to brilliant not be affected by what surrounds him.
Bella..hmm, at first i believe he was pleased with the match. I think that she amused him and more than her beauty, it was that wildness in her that turned him on.
She needed to be tamed from his point of view, and i think they were good together at first. She loved his power, his charisma, and they were both so needed of human contact.A very sexual relationship but that soon started to make him feel disappointed and eventually indifferent and bored.
But i too don't see him as a womanizer, he was loyal to her and sexually she gave him what he needed. But i can easily see him having a good relationship with Cissa or some other woman on a intellectual way,but not even platonic.
I think Andy would have been the perfect match for him (because Narcissa is so perfect for Lucius, ehe)and that hatred you talk about, i think she had a crush on Rody and that she was devastated by his marriage to Bella. She is sweet and caring and that above all, was something that was missing in his life. And she has all the baggage that comes from being a Black, she is as fierce as her sisters and as strong and he admires strength and strong believes in women.Blaming him for Bella's madness and behavior was just easy than to admit that Bella had so much flaws and was so devious.

There is such a strong sexual thing with the B/R, agreed - there always is in fanon but I don't doubt it could be true. Their lives are so much on/off, black/white and highs and lows, and about power and anything else that might inspire excitement, really. Especially since they're so damned young.
Personally, since I have my somewhat random Mrs Zabini/Rodolphus thing, I've thought a lot about whether he's actually capable of love and consciously being in love (accepting it, really). I don't know - it's not really relevant with Bella, but with someone else? Not sure. I think he's too immersed in darkness and repressed for it, frankly... He would need it, but in my incarnation he's switched off most of those needs long ago.
Agreed on that it for Andy was way easier to blame someone else, mainly Rodolphus, for Bella's behaviour - it is way too painful to admit the truth there. I have an Andy/Yaxley ship myself, but there is a lot of bitterness here.
LOVE fandom meta. Siriusly!

I love your Mrs Zabini and the relationship you gave them. Bella doesn't mean anything to him anymore and i think he would be more than happy to see her go. But i think he feels sorry for Bella...sometimes, in the quiet of their bedroom ,when she sleeps and he smokes his cigarette. eheh
I think Andy would have made the perfect wife for him, because she would have given him, a tender side of human contact and love, but that did not happen, and he never learned that that is possible between a couple.Severus love for Lily was a surprise to him, even Lucius and Cissa, but it is not something that he wants to acknowledge, so i totally agree with you there.
I think Andy was happy with Ted, contented at least, but her heart never too far from her background and very bitter to have lost it. Andy/Yaxley? You write them? i would love to read it.
This is fun!LOL a good exercise.
Regulus is my boy, Rodolphus my man,mix Severus and Lucius and it's perfect. And the Black family is so interesting.
Fun,fun.

He does feel something like sorry for her in those days, yes, I agree. He is as convinced of the Cause as she is but has a more realistic world view and can handle life better - but I think they had a VERY tense household in circa 1981.
Andy/Yaxley - aye, I do write them! Only one posted "officially", Running, but I have a few drabbles that perhaps should see the light of day at some point (or, more eyes than D's, that is!) I have a massive project about these people, but I can't seem to get free time and inspiration to collide recently, in order to get it off the ground...
