3x15: The Book of Abby
So, I saw It. The Book. I had to watch the first S15 eps first and am glad I did since they were both perfectly decent and gave me a feel for the whole gang, once more. That those were the last interns is just so WEIRD, and... everything. And then there was The Book. I knew about the key points, wall of government property included (HAH! Sometimes, I almost like Carter) - but still. It was poignant. Very much so. I like my show again - I don't know how much more I'm gonna watch, but at least it ended on something resembling a high.
That it's really been a decade, almost in IRL too. And that Joe is TWO YEARS OLD? Whut. But of course he is. Bloodline was a long time ago.
The final look at the Batcave was sort of brutal. On this show I've always been a Luka fan first and foremost and seeing that apartment empty was just very final. No fishtank! On the other hand it was nice and poetic that it was Abby who left the - their - apartment, when he bought it for the two of them back in S8. Yes, I think about this stuff when I obsess.
It was, in many ways, a typical happy-exit episode. Of course; it reminded me of oldER, and of Benton and Cleo's exit. The rant at the board was thus both completely over the top and awesome, all in one. Loved talkative Abby, who indeed seemed stoned at times - in a good way. If any two characters deserved to leave County happy? Well, yeah. I would certainly have preferred it without the last uphill, but I guess it just wouldn't have been luby without it. Thus,I loved, loved, LOVED the ambulance bay exit. It was dark, too dark to cap (of bloody course, it's luby after all) - but it was just so nice. I was always a bit annoyed that Luka had a sort of sloppy exit arc/episode; or, I guess he didn't, really, but it just went fast and then to hell, so. Anyway - I was very happy that he was there (and that grin! So good.) Joe? Cute as a button, and that kid looks alarmingly like Goran, I have to say. I always wished for the three of them to walk out of the ER, off into the sunset if you will, and I suppose I pretty much got my wish.
Also, the wall. SO EFFING AWESOME.
I can't really digest this yet. That it's over. No more worrying about what the fuck TPTB will do next - no, it's wrapped up now. Luby - LUBY - ended happily. After seven seasons, and they managed to make it seem like it always was meant to be. To a degree, at least.
That's just so cool. I could have left Luka after Kisangani - that last shot of him in the clinic always seemed like a perfectly decent exit arc - but I couldn't have left Abby any other way.
Now I feel this sudden urge to rewatch the whole damn show. Even S8-9, or even TEN! (No, not that one.) Because I know it's gonna end well.
ETA: just started watching The Human Shield and OMG, the old credits! I had forgotten how made of awesome the old credits were!
