Ok... I understand what they are trying to do with the fine. They don't want those who have sufficient monies to use the governments healthcare. They are trying to create a safety net but exclude those who can afford their own healthcare. I am typically very liberal to things like this, but you cannot force people into this. IT IS RIDICULOUS. Something I read equated it to having insurance on a car. But there is a huge difference, the insurance is related to the privelege of operating said vehicle. Worse yet, the monetary levels for when a person gets charged this "fine" do not take into account the area in which they live. 32k/68k is great in some areas of the country, but is not even poverty level in many metropolitan areas.
If this passes, I got a great business propsition for you annubis. We will start an insurance company that charges 25 dollars a year for full family coverarge and provides discounted asprin and web pages links to various free internet medical resources (and that's all). It is insurance, isn't it?
