Legoland could certainly be seen all in one day, but it was nice to take our time and explore. Carson and Eden found a spot where you could pretend to dig up fossils (using a real metal shovel or garden spade). For some reason, Carson's favorite dinosaur is the Triceratops...go figure...
It was a cool day, but we still found lots of excuses to get wet:
The Pirate Ships were great. you could shoot at other ships of people (and get shot at). Water volcanoes would erupt and splashes from fake canon fire could hit you. Very, very fun!
This time Poppy drove (as if he wasn't driving the whole trip in a real car)
He said Carson really wanted to do it...but I think we all know the truth.
More playground fun...
At the end of the day the kids went over to the water playground and got soaked. I will put those pictures on Flickr if someone reminds me. It was really bad parenting...only about 60 degrees outside and they were soaked to the skin. (No, they didn't catch colds)
I definitely recommend Legoland...EXCEPT...
Since it was the last day, we told the kids they could pick out toys. Their requests were simple. Carson wanted the little man he saw being made at the factory tour and an R2D2. Eden wanted anything that said Harry Potter.
NO...no Harry Potter items at all even though the
Hogwarts Castle was on display at the factory tour (I assume there is some kind of exclusive agreement or something) and the little guy it turns out is from 2002 when the park opened and so no, they don't stock him. The only R2D2 they had was the one that comes with a 50 Euro (~$63)
Naboo Fighter and you could not tell from the picture if you get the whole R2 or just the top of his head (sorry, but I guess this is lost on non-starwars people).
I was really angry and the kids became disinterested in buying any toys because they couldn't get what they wanted. It was a total marketing failure...something that we Americans just don't understand.
Side note: Crap! Did you click the link for the Naboo Fighter? Turns out I should have slapped down my 50 Euro.
