So you don't get stuck in all my silly random posts...I've offered to make ePubs for authors if they wish to have their fic distributed in that format.
If you wish to take me up on the offer, cool! :) I'll do as many as I have time for. Let me know if your on a time table (like a BigBang posting date)...I can get busy in the summer, especially mid June through mid July (if you request during that time please be patient...I may not respond right away and may be away from any contact for up to 5 days in June).
What I would need from you, the author, is:
- Your fic (in it's finished format) in either word doc or rich text document.
- If you wish there to be chapters or "parts" then I need those indicated in the document somehow. Just a heading "Chapter 1" is fine.
- Cover art from your artist is wonderful (I can often crop banners, but sometimes not as nice as if it were designed to be a cover). Ideally it should be 600 pixels wide by 800 pixels high (at a minimum, but preserve that aspect ratio!) Text can be left off...but if it is added it should be extra large and easy to read when seen on an small device. Just the title, in the largest text, followed by the author (and artist if you wish, but I also acknowledge artists and others on the inside first page), in smaller text. The simpler the better. Or provide both in case the text is not legible and that way I have the nice cover image to work with anyways.
-images can be added to the ebook but remember they are going to be viewed on a smaller screen (usually 800 pixels or less high, so images should be clear when viewed smaller than that...) and often in black and white.
That's the basics.
The more chapters the longer it may take to code to ePub, but breaking a fic up into chapters lets it load faster in a eReader (because it only needs to load one chapter at a time).
ePUBs created so far can be found on this page. PS: I would also love permission to share them at the
fanfic eBook Library, so if your good with that too let me know. I adore the eBook Library idea. There can be a release date set; say put it in the eLibrary no sooner than one year after the BigBang release. (That way most traffic must go through the BB/LJ post first)
Let me know if you have any questions. :)
