Chief U.S. District Judge James Ware
upheld former Chief Judge Vaughn Walker's ruling striking down Prop. 8, the California law that outlawed same sex marriage.
A bunch of conservative nitwits challenged Walker's ruling on the basis that, as he is gay and has been in a same-sex relationship for over ten years, he stood to personally benefit from his own ruling. Judge Ware ruled that Walker's ruling held, and that he should not have been obliged to reveal his sexual orientation before presiding over the case.
Thank you, Judges Walker and Ware, for restoring bits of my faith in humanity. I know that this isn't the end, and that there are certain to be more challenges to Walker's ruling, but right now I am just SO DAMN HAPPY. ^____^
