Magpies!
I have the sudden need to go to Los Padres National Park and find out whether the magpies I always see down there are yellow-billed magpies (endemic to California, so awesome! They exhibit funeral-like behaviour when one dies!) or black-billed magpies (western North America, still awesome) or, most probably, both. It's only a three hour drive...
Please don't ask me why I'm suddenly curious about bird species, especially when the biggest difference between the two appears to be the color of their beaks. The answer is suspiciously close to "well, why not?" with maybe some overtones of "because!"
It's probably a good thing the Wombats are working: this way I can't finagle them into a random road trip. :P
