Myv

So I owe various people various link posts, but haven't had a chance to yet, apologies.

Instead, let's talk about Miyavi.

I honestly think Miyavi and Sugizo writhing around each other while playing guitar together is THE hottest video I've seen in the last few months. And yes, I saw KAT-TUN's latest pv. Something about the way they both keep throwing back their heads while playing the guitar skillfully is just REALLY SEXY.

So I was already stoked to see Miyavi live, even though he's not a great singer. I've seen him perform before, as part of JRR, and as part of SKIN, and so I know he's got great stage presence.

But even still, tonight's performance totally took me by surprise.

This is definitely one of the best rock concerts I've ever been to. It was like half a rock and hip-hop concert and half a clubbing event. The Avalon is a pretty small and intimate venue (it apparently used to be a club for underage teens but was remodeled), and Miyavi loved interacting with the crowd. You could see him feeding off the energy and then just giving it back. I don't think I've ever moved around so much during a live before. It was incredible.

You really can't get the experience of his guitar/tap dancer off, guitar/beat box mix, him speaking cutely to us and pretending to hear our responses, his extravagant poses to get the crowd screaming, him getting the entire crowd to jump, bang their heads, clap their hands etc, yell, the long extended clubbing/dj-ing while he went in to change and everyone just dancing, the sensual way he played his guitar and told us to "come closer" and "touch me", on dvd. There's just no way to capture this performance without missing the experience of being there, live, screaming your lungs out and shaking your limbs until you're exhausted.

In conclusion, Miyavi is extremely hot and Miyavi is someone that needs to be experienced, live. He was just that good.

"Don't give up. That's why I'm here today. Because I didn't give up."
