The punch on your face makes it all worse.
No one else sees him like you do. He’s friendly, talkative and likable with everyone. His charm makes people fall in love with him, and you were no exception.
You see him like no other person can. You feel him like no one can. You feel the punches, the kicks, the bites, the hands on your throat. He apologizes afterwards, says how sorry he is, pleads for forgiveness. And, oh, how you wish you could give him just that.
The painful slap on your ass makes it all better.
There’s no point in claiming you don’t like it, enjoy it, love it. Because you do, you love it when it gets rough, when he just takes you in his animal inability to control himself. It makes you feel flattered.
You’re the one who makes this gorgeous man feel like he can’t wait till you get home, like he has to fuck you in a public restroom (or changing room or a car or wherever), no matter how exposed you are. And it’s all forgiven and forgotten. For a while, at least.
The kiss on the side of your nose makes it all worth it
and so much more complicated. It would be so much easier if he was just violent, because then you would have a reason to just leave him and get over him. But he’s sweet and loving and you can’t stand being alone.
So, you stay with him, despite everything. You hold your head up high, almost proud of the bruises that you know are visible for the world to see. Bruising of love. You stay because you love him, because you need him.
