About 1.5 weeks ago, we bought a cute little citrus tree. It has these tiny little orange things.
The instructions said to water sparingly. Allow the top inch of mixture to dry.
I like to water all the rest of the alive green stuff in the apartment at the same time, once a week. It's on a cycle, so I wanted to get the tree into the cycle, and there was only a little dryness in spots. This was just, like a few days.
The plant completely dried out. All of the leaves curled up, and have been falling off steadily since. Just a day before watering day I noticed the soil was completey dry, not just the top inch, so I went ahead and watered every plant, at which point I realized every other plant was unusually dry for the time of the week.
Ack.
I killed my first plant, at Hendrick House. But I think the problem was it was under a draft. The citrus plant is in a drafty spot as well. I thought the temperature should be okay, but maybe it's actually not.
Or maybe the leaves are supposed to dry up and fall off, along with the tiny blossoms and beginnings of fruits.
Oh well. It's still cute.
