I was just thinking about this...

We need something you're passionate about that really brings out the best in your writing on a regular basis (much like 24 did).

What about recaps of Deadliest Catch? Maybe? It's hardly the phenomenon that 24 is, but hey, D and I watch it. I decided last episode that we have to get you a "Northwestern" mug with the handle broken off, just like they had in the show.

Seriously, Sig has an attitude (not to mention hair-loss) problem. What's up with that? Edgar is so much more laid back, but for some reason I like him less. They could both be a little less cocky too, if you ask me.

But what I'm really waiting for is the return of Dirty Jobs. I have a man-crush on Mike Rowe, but him narrating Deadliest Catch just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Thoughts?

Some things I am passionate about would not make for good writing. See: Fashion. Who here would read that? No one.

My writing is truly the best when the subject is fluff. Geo-political relations? I got nothing. Britney Spears? GOLDMINE. I can do the serious writing once in a while, but I can never do more than an essay.

I also love dirty jobs but I'm kind of wondering whether it will be back. He was always begging for new dirty jobs at the end of the episodes. Don't you guys watch any cheesy TV (RW or RW/RR challenge)? These would make excellent fodder for write ups. Of course I may have just revealed how lame I truly am and you could do write ups making fun of me watching those shows :-). I haven't watched deadliest catch this season but have in the past during marathons. If you write about it I would add it to the Tivo.

I just can't bring myself to watch that shit. Not that I don't watch shit, just not that particular color of shit.

It has also been suggested that I recap "So You Think You Can Dance", "Hell's Kitchen" and "The 4400". No to all 3.

I believe that the ep next week is the last one for the season.

I LOVE RESCUE ME! (I posted about it a while back.) But I've only seen Season 1 (will start on Season 2 soon) so as soon as I catch up with S3, I can read your recaps. :)

Me too... I'm totally addicted. Must be something about it being so manly... insight into men's minds???

Also, may I suggest recaps of Project Runway when it starts back in July... make it work!

Denis Leary's a hack rjcolewinery June 9 2006, 17:21:38 UTC
I used to think he was funny and a good actor, but take away his asshole routine and he's teh suXXor. I say, pick one strange news story a day and write about that. It doesn't have to be a politcal or controversial thing, if you don't want it to be, but it's more interesting than anything on TV.

Or better yet, find a blog of someone you don't know and totally flame every post they put up. Nothing's more fun on teh internets than unnecessary rudeness and blog wars.

Or discuss how "Can I kick it?" is one of the greatest rap songs of all time, with citations behind your work.

One time, I analyzed why "The A-Team" was not actually a show meant for entertainment, but rather nothing but communist propaganda.

I don't find the logic in the "take away his asshole routine and he's teh suXXor" argument. That's like saying take away the "I'm half crazy but still the coolest guy in the room" thing from Jack Nicholson and he totally sucks. Leary plays an asshole like no one else, and he's great at it. In fact, he plays a guy on this show who has probably done more unforgiveable things that no character could ever get away with, yet somehow people still like him. I don't think I'd ever want to see Leary playing anything but an asshole. What would be the point?

BTW, I am by no means comparing Leary to Nicholson, just making a point about the guys and their schticks.
