omg kill the phone

Sep 27, 2005 11:50

Y'think that if I asked God, he'd kill the telephone for me? I think that's a safe request. I know, I know. I only seem to want God to smite things for me lately. But smiting an inanimate object which only seeks to cause me grief and pain is all right, yeah? Yeah? Okay then.

*gulps down more coffee*

Batshit insanity has been running rampant in the last few days. Too much to do, too much to do. My living room now looks like a cozy Arabian bungalow, draped in pink and orange and red and magenta, and the GORGEOUS votives that marilla82 sent me are PERFECT accents. Thank you so much, darling!!! :) Coming home at night from long days at work is a pleasure and a relief, especially when you get to come home to a lovely house, a full bookcase, and a happy dog who's so excited to see you, you'd think you were the pope or something. Only she doesn't try to kiss your ring; she tries to lick you square in the mouth instead. I think this is a much cuter tactic.

Several brief things that have been going on in my life, but have not coalesced into an LJ post:

  • I have dyed my hair again. Goodbye pink, hello blonde. I haven't been a blonde since I was, oh, I don't know, eight, so it's fun. Plus, it's chunky fun blonde, like Buffy's short and sassy haircut from Season Six, but shorter. :)

  • I have finally joined the ranks of Netflix. I started up with the first season of Queer as Folk, thinking that the hotness of boysex and Brian Kinney could soothe my troubled post-Katrina soul, but alas, my brain could not grasp an entire Pittsburgh full of gay people (the chiropractor! the guy in detention with Justin! all of Brian's clients and employees!), so no more for me. But Brian Kinney is still Teh Sex. I will not dispute that.

  • Next up on my Netflix queue? Xena: Warrior Princess. Shut up. I used to love mocking that show when I was a kid, and I have a yen for the hilarity of it again. Plus, I figured out how to hack Netflix DVDs and copy them, so that's a plus. :)

  • Finished rewatching the run of Farscape while cleaning, and now I'm rewatching Gilmore Girls, because it's pleasant to come home to mother/daughter bonding. I am a big girl's blouse. Shut up.

  • Due to the last few weeks of nonstop hurricane coverage, I have missed every single season premiere I cared about, save Arrested Development. Because NOTHING could possibly keep me from the Bluth family, and the writing on that show is just as sharp as ever. Plus, DUDE. Harry Hamlin! Scott Baio! Dave Thomas! LOFF. and yeah, i guess charlize theron is pretty good, and she'll draw viewers so that's always a plus *g*

  • I got the brother totally hooked on Battlestar Galactica. He's addicted. Utterly addicted. While he watched the first season, he called me intermittently to exclaim "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT!", and it was cute. Had to share. ;)

  • My reading fit continues. However, after reading Galveston a week before a hurricane aimed itself at that city (and thank God it missed), I have decided to stop reading books about Gulf Coast cities in the hopes that I will not jinx them. Instead, I've turned to beloved old fantasy novels like Nancy McKenzie's The Child Queen and The High Queen, because I always loved her rendition of the tale of King Arthur and Guinevere. Good times. :)

In conclusion, FEMA sucks and Michael Brown deserves to be sent to "the glue factory" with all his other ponies. And no, I will never stop mocking him for getting fired from a pony job. NEVER.

ETA: Also, is it wrong of me to have something of a crush on Lt. General Russel Honore? Because every time he does a phone interview with CNN and says "over" at the end of all his statements, my knees go weak and I squeal a little. I love him and his berets and his cursing and his cigars and want to reward him for his heroism with sex. Really, is that so wrong?
