Ever since I saw how overworked and abused Hisagi looked in chapter 230 talking to Ukitake, I wanted to make it better for him. He just looked so lost and abandoned, I felt like he needed someone to kick him in the ass and set him on the right path again.
When I saw Kensei save chibi-Shuuhei and sporting the 69 tattoo of his own I just knew I had to write this story. It wasn't until the prompt from b_c though that I was able put to out it all into words.
Thank you so very much for the realism comments as well. Betrayal I think is something everyone is familiar with, some more so than others, but still it seems to be something easily identifiable with. Not everyone reacts the same, but I tried to take Shuuhei's cues from the manga as well as my own experiences to make it as believable as possible.
As for the hope, well it's sort of my thing in real life. It's so hard, but ultimately I want every bad experience to have hope and/or determination in the end. It's not always possible of course, but I do try and this story being first person, I felt it needed it. That and the fact that even though there is little in Hisagi's storyline, he has never come across as a quitter. Depression can beat down even the most fearsome of personalities, but once it slides away a strong person can re-erect and refashion their goals.
LOL!! Sorry for the dissertation on my story. I feel like I should be sending you care packages for having to listen to my weirdness.
Thanks again for reading and commenting and all the other lovely things you do for me. :)
