I've been moaning about not having enough time to be fannish at the level I'm accustomed to, so right now I'm going to make the time and then rush around like a crazy person to catch up to RL obligations because I've got recs I'm sitting on and I don't want to forget them (which unfortunately happens).
I can't really gush and bat my eye-lashes about each story as they deserve right now, but you know that if I'm reccing it it's special :-)
Two same-themed recs to start off: Dean is feverish to the point of incoherency, and h/c ensures. Also (whited out because it spoils the fics) he hallucinates John, and boy am I praying right now that Kripke snags JDM back to guest as Dean's hallucination!

The Drowning Chain, rated R, GEN. Would that we could have this on the show and, really, I don't see why not!
By
strangeandcharm , it's
Third Time's The Charm, rated NC17, Dean/Castiel, which is the middle fic in a trilogy of which you should read all because it's brilliant, but for me it will always be the fic where Dean's fever is so high Sam and Castiel have to hold him down in a tub of ice.
strangeandcharm keeps figuring out my buttons and pushing them before even I am aware of them. I've already read this three times. I'm probably going to read it again.
Then! Another fic by
strangeandcharm (why not?) that I'm reccing because the summary/prompt would have made me skip it entirely if I didn't know the author.
Putting The ‘Christian’ In Hans Christian Andersen (Dean/Castiel, PG13) is a reworking of the original Little Mermaid (NOT the Disney version) into canon SPN and it's brilliantly done. I snifffled through it much as I did the original one when I was eight. Packs a whole lot of punch.
Actually connected to these, but not a fic (shock!) check out some of
oatmeal_queen 's latest drawings
here. They run on the Dean /Castiel side of the fandom, but it all stays this side of the PG13 (and OMG SO CUTE!! ;-P)
Final fic rec. This is older, but I only found it now. Also, looking at the comments, you've all already read it. Read it again. Apart from a throwaway line about Castiel reading Dante (WTF, why would he???) that poked me in the eye and made me go "hey!", this is the best Cas-gets-Dean-out-of-hell fic in the history of forever. Bacause it takes him forty years to find him, and this story tells it all. By

Paradisi//Inferno, Rated R.
Now, a question: Next episode is 4.15, right? But how many are we getting when this darned hiatus is over? Another five? Six? Was it going to be a 22 episode season? I remember Kripke saying last year that due to dwindling budget he was cutting back on the number of episodes, but I can't remember how many, and I'm afraid of going looking and getting spoiled! Any of you know?
And now, just to take a break from the fannish life, I just wanted to say that
Jaime Oliver's new take-away/school sounds awesome and I'd love trying it out whenever it is that I'll get the chance to go to London. Flist, take notice for your own eventual plans!
