oh, I give up

Today I was supposed to get a free afternoon, and I was planning on spending it on fannish things, as a reward for all the cleaning and errands of the morning... and then a friend of mine called me and asked me to go hang out.

I was sorely tempted to just say no and hermit myself, since I'm seeing said friend tomorrow for drinks after dinner anyway. Two big factors were pulling me in two different directions: one, today was a lovely, sunny day after a full week of unrelenting rain and clouds. Seriously, this kind of weather and 'June' should have nothing to do with each other, it ain't natural.

Two, my boss at work allowed our internet provider to install a new feature that details all the websites the computers in the office visit, for how long and how many hits to each- why? because it was free (free one-month trial). But in the office there's only me, the other girl and the boss, and although our 'privacy' is protected by there not being any indication of who visited which page... yeah. No. This is really bad, because one of the major perks so far has been the possibility of taking mini breaks and going through my flist at work when I start getting brain fatigue... the other girl is equally irritated by losing her own mini breaks and the underlining issue of trust this raises. TL;DR? No more keeping up with the flist at work, even less fannish stuff accomplished for the next month.

Well, long story short, I ended up going out to enjoy the sunshine. All those people wringing their hands about people becoming mindless slaves to their computers to the detriment of RL interactions would be proud.
