Back from London!

Hullo, flist!
Back in the land of the internets, and watching mah shows! Will post separately about that, but now I just want to spend two words on London:
1 Transport was a nightmare. Several hours both getting there, getting around, and getting out lost to delays that no one will give me back. woe.
2 London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, make no mistake. I'm curious to return after the Olympics, and see what sort of improvements there will be then, but for now I have to say I keep being impressed by the architecture both old but especially new. Some of the newest buildings are truly spectacular, something I'm not used to in my own country. Watch & learn from the Brits, is all I'm saying.
3 Asian food! Asian food! Ate so very, very well :-P
4 Culture clash! Shops close at half past five/six (much too early!), but supermarkets close at midnight (much later!), and restaurants are open all day (slave!cooks!) and THEATERS ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAY WTF?? I managed to find a friend who'd dish out the dough to come with me and see Avenue Q, and I had to miss it because we could only go on sunday. Dude. My brother works in a theater. Standard holidays/days off are when theaters are open. I was really not expecting that.
5 the fannish mind takes over:

I noticed it only after I bought it XD. They are very, very mindful of recycling/organic business over there. I believe "obsessed" is the term I'm looking for. Is it bad? I don't know. It can certainly be... intense.
6 The fannish mind takes over, part two: went to the Natural History Museum (dinosaur bones! yay!!) and whilst in the minerals section I had an epiphany (as you do): SPN angels' wings are not made of bird-like feathers, but they're made of asbestos! It makes so much sense! Please to be examining item one: asbestos fibers (as seen in the museum!), white, fluffy looking and lethal to humans. Also, extremely heat resistant. There was a fanart in early season four of Castiel pulling Dean out of Hell in his true form, and the artist had drawn the wings as long strands of... something, to make them look more alien. Dude, it is now my canon.
