Okay, so people seem to be leaving LJ and just hanging out on Facebook. I have Facebook just to have Facebook and frankly I hate it. I'm finding new bullshit to block or hide every damn day, and then there's that fucking auto-publishing Farmville's Latest that nobody can get rid of. Also the text limit on Facebook is 230 characters per post. ( Read more... )

It also helps that the majority of LJ is literate, since there are a fuckton of writers on it.

If I ever went to another social network, it'd likely be Tumblr. More art on there.

Thank goodness for literacy, yes. Facebook is primarily made up of people who are lucky they can turn their computer on, let alone operate their keyboards.

Last night Nina was trying to tell me how crazy the LJ userbase is, but I'm just not seeing it. I don't think they're any less crazy here than they are elsewhere on the internet. Besides, I like the communities. There's a lot more to them than Facebook apps/groups, which just seem like dopey little circlejerks.

Tumblr is good for art, but what's good for writing? Blogspot?
