Room 330- Monday evening

Mar 19, 2012 18:12

After getting off of work, Annie had run back to her room. She had mail waiting, she didn't know what it was, and she had to know right this second. So once she got there, she flung the door open, dropped her backpack next to the desk, and went through her mail.

And there was the letter from Colorado State. Which, okay, was not her first choice. In fact, it was her safety school. But it looked promising, and it was her first letter back, so she tore into it.

A moment later there was a high-pitched squeal as Annie found that her safety school had totally accepted her. There might have also been a little in-place dance, with the door wide open, because she was not cool.

When the glee had subsided a little, she saw that there was another letter from Colorado State. Figuring it was just more information to make her feel slightly bad about rejecting them for one of the other schools she'd undoubtedly gotten into, she opened it, looked at the letter... and realized that by some chance she'd gotten notice of her scholarship application, too. And they had rejected her.

Which meant that while Annie had gotten in, knowing her own finances were not great and after that whole going-to-rehab thing that she'd get little to no support from her mother, she couldn't actually afford to go.

The "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" that followed that might have been heard somewhere in the Midwest. The people that knew her as Flo probably heard it. But it was okay, she told herself. One of the other scholarships had to come through, right? Right.
