Hot Crows surge forward

ADELAIDE Football Club started pre-season training in 40-degree heat this morning, with its key forwards stealing the show.
Sixty-eight days after having their 2009 campaign ended in heartbreaking fashion with a five-point semi-final defeat to Collingwood at the MCG, the Crows were back on deck and hungry to go a few steps further next year.
What was supposed to be an 80-minute training session turned into nearly two hours as the Crows combined ball and fitness work.
Of all the players to have muscled up in their break, it was young key forwards Taylor Walker, Kurt Tippett, Shaun McKernan and James Sellar who looked most impressive while Trent Hentschel - whose career was in jeopardy two years ago because of severe leg injuries - looked fit and strong.
The players coped with the scorching heat by wearing ice-vests and hydrating well in the previous two days.
"It was pretty warm out there, but it was a good start to pre-season and it looks like it's going to be a hot one (summer) so we'll have to get used to that," Tippett said.
"The doctor had a chat to us, telling us to make sure we stayed hydrated and wore a hat and sunscreen, so we got through okay."
