I just got back from California on Monday and let me just say it was
quite the experience! We did all the ASHA professional development
resume-building making connections conference sort of stuff for two
days, since technically that was the purpose for the trip! The rest of
our time was spent driving wildly through Bel-air, spotting some
celebrity homes, having dinner in Mannhattan Beach, having drinks on
the Sunset Strip, sleeping in an ant-invested hotel room, having dinner
with 25 senior citizens at a foundraiser for a retirement community,
comsuming beverages appropriately named "Adios Motherfucker!", partying
with several stuntmen, getting sufficiently intoxicated at Universal
Citywalk, staying a night in the infamous "Valley", taking a trip to
Hollywood, seeing where the Academy Awards are held, drinking out of
Shark Tanks at a bar in Hermosa Beach, thoroughly enjoying myself and
having no recollection of it, Getting VIP access to Universal Studios,
visiting Wysteria Lane (Desperate Housewives... duh.), consuming my
first hamburger in like five years at a little establishment the
Californians like to call In-and-Out, and topping it all off with my
first solo plane ride back to Detroit. I met some really cool and
interesting people, and the whole experience actually improved my
outlook on post-college life. Look for the webshots, they should be up
soon! In other news, Halloween is this weekend. It's looking like
Wayside, party two houses down, then Monacco Bay on Sunday, but final
decisions have yet to be made, anyone have any alternate plans?
