Pics this time - Liz's photos of her BC vacation were super lovely - a wonderful diary of places and people out there. She had a ball, and it was a perfect surprise for her friend Linda's birthday.

One of the gazillion pics was of a starfish - I've seen starfish in zoos and off the coast of Spain, but never one like this. It's like a jewelled thing out of the East somewhere. I'm going to use a larger pic than my usual ones when I post in Rich Text...

This fellow was just lying on the sand waiting for the tide to come in.

I'd never seen an oyster shell, either - besides those on a plate, I mean. This one had two shells fused together in the middle, and (after the inhabitant had been removed) the top shells are like lids that come off. The little barnacles are so fine and everything looks like it had been carved from white marble.

This is as Liz found it (inhabited, but deceased and very smelly) on the beach

Then when it was all cleaned up, the top shells come off and the interiors are like tiny pockets where one might store a pair of earrings! Pearl ones, of course.

Now as promised, and no doubt fervently longed for, here is grandmamma's saucer.

and I don't think I can put any text down the side...hate wasting space...that's why I use the Rich Text format and small pics. Oh well.

Anyhow, there we are. I saved a few of Liz's pics for my desktop - and she forgot to take her camera case home so I might just go and get the memory cards and take a few more. There were no sunny days, so most of the pics are darkish - but that's what she saw, and so she is really very happy with them all.

My Merry Maids cleaners have come and gone - they are all well and good, but it would be so nice to have a cleaner who would actually clean behind and under things! They do the bathrooms properly, but when they vac the living room and bedroom, nothing is moved, and after a while, there's a lot of dust under the love seat and behind it. Plus they did the oven today, and no one told me, either when I started with them, or last month, that there was an extra charge for doing the oven. Well, I must say it is very clean - what they use really removes everything that isn't thoroughly baked on - but.....they already cost the earth and to pay extra kind of rankles. Still, when you're ancient, all that convoluted bending required for oven cleaning
is just not on.

Shouldn't end on a moan, though - I'm very glad for what they do! It's my lunch time now, too. I'm changing my eating habits slightly, but will not go into the intricacies of that today, tee hee.
