This turned out easier to translate than I thought. Or rather Shizu-chan turned out easier to translate in general ( Read more... )

This... this is absolutely glorious. I might be just a biased Shizuo fangirl (duh), but in my opinion this is so far the best excerpt. Shizu-chan is so... charming. He doesn't talk much, but all of his answers are so straightforward and... how should I put it - felicitous? I guess. He's perfect.

"You said from the beginning that you had 'a couple of things' to ask me...you already asked three questions, and I had nothing to say."

....so adorable much like him ( ... )

He is perfect. Like everyone else I initially fapped at Izaya, but with every volume I read...oh Shizuo.

Batshit Graham is more comparable to Izaya imo. And Aoba reminds me a lot of Czeslaw. But other than that I really don't see the point of comparing the Baccano! and Durarara!! cast...

Lol Tom and his Shizuo for Beginners manual. I'd want one.

Me neither. I bet Narita would be able to create billions of new fascinating characters and confining it all to just one of his works and be like "Oh, so he's like a combination of X and Y from Baccano, everything is clear now" without noticing any other traits is just cheap.

Czeslaw? Ahhh, I don't like him very much. It's just my aversion to shota characters, I guess. I'm more of a Vino or Luck fangirl (not very original, I know). By the way, have you read Baccano! novels as well?

I haven't, but I'll get to it. Claire/Chane definitely blows my mind away, and I kind of like Czeslaw because of how badly he gets pwned by Claire:)

Exactly. I especially love how well and in a convincing way he writes borderline batshit males and yandere females. I never expected myself to adore a downright twisted character like Namie, but something about Narita makes that work. It's just amazing.

I have no idea what kind of woman Namie is and hopefully we'll get more of her in anime soon. Incest makes me all yuck, so I'm very curious whether Narita's awesomness will change it.

When I read the first volume all I recall of Namie was "yuck, another yandere-for-her-brother female seriously what's with you Japan" but then she's all cool and...just awesome after she starts working for Izaya. Somehow. Maybe it's just me.

Well well, we'll see about that :)

Most likely I won't ship her with Izaya though. Ufortunately. I'm just... too fond of a certain pairing and my own image of him (almost fully asexual guy somewhat attracted to the only person in the world he can't understand - which actually makes that certain person interesting unlike anyone else, not just hateable. But Izaya obviously would never admit that this is the case). Besides, all these fanarts are just too... hnnnggh...
Okay, okay, nevermind.
