DURARARA Vol.5 Aoba, Ran, and Blue Square.

Mar 23, 2010 20:05

I expect to wrap up my work with Durarara shortly; off the top of my head I'll still need to finish Shizuo Musou, the timeline, Kasuka's wiki page and...something else. After that I'll just be filling requests sporadically in previous threads. If I don't change my mind by July, I'll probably start something more ambitious than the random stabs I've ( Read more... )

The kid likes metaphors, I'll give him that. I can see the Izaya resemblance, but he's a bit more ambitious imo. And as evidenced in the later trans'd scene, Mikado is... the badass to rule all badasses. XD But maybe that too is just my opinion...

TY for the trans. <3

True, the Izaya resemblance is there...but I was more forcibly reminded of Czeslaw Meyer. Though Aoba's dynamic with Ran does make me go "hmm, maybe that's what it would be like if Shizuo and Izaya were siblings." at times. -v-

He doesn't have the troubled background for my sympathy to fall back on (assumingly), though, which leads to believe he has the same normal or mediocre origin that Izaya claimed of himself. So yes, I do see the resemblance with Meyer, but I don't want to hug him so I group him more with that certain informant.

And all I can imagine in the ShizuIza brother situation is Shizuo beating Izaya to a pulp and then throwing him off the building. IE, what Ran should have done. XD

...maybe Aoba's just young, but imo he doesn't have the essence of what makes Izaya and Mikado so badass. He's a tactician just like them, have great control over self and people following... but he's missing something. He's... too ordinary? too human? not passionate enough? not gay enough?

He's still great in term of power, just by ordinary human standard. The other two are by not-ordinary humans standard.

I used to hate Aoba to the core that I was very satisfied when Mikado stabbed Aoba's hand with a ballpoint pen. But after I heard he used to get beaten up by his brother a lot, I felt somewhat sorry for him. That still doesn't justify what he had done to Masaomi and Saki.

Hope he would at least find something special in Mikado and be loyal to him. I'd hate him even more if he plans to betray Mikado afterward.

Even if Aoba knew Masomi and Saki were dating he had not control over the blue squares at that time if anyone is to blame its Izaya and Ran.
