I'll start with something I did last year with the last paragraph of Yes by Thomas Bernhard.

Shinra had then, having been able to inform the Evening News of the identity of the deceased, notified Izaya's long-term partner, Yagiri Namie, of the tragedy. Miss Yagiri, however, had not reacted at all. I saw the black Persian lamb coat hanging in the vestibule next to his white lab coat. The authorities had handed the coat over to Shinra, but apparently nobody was able to retrieve the switchblade. It occurred to me that on one of our less unfriendly walks in the concrete jungle I had said to Orihara Izaya that so many young people nowadays killed themselves, and that this society in which those young people were compelled to exist was totally unable to understand why, and that, quite out of the blue and in fact in my tactless way, I had asked Izaya if he would kill himself one day. Upon which he had only laughed and said No.
